Last summer’s most memorable basketball related event took place at a Connecticut Boys & Girls Club. Fifteen months after LeBron James decided that Jason Petrie could do some amazing things with Miami-inspired colorways, there’s not a followup NBA season anywhere in sight, so this recent adidas Basketball event in Chicago could very well turn out to be the attendees’ most memorable roundball moment in 2011-12. ’Run with D Rose’ featured Chitown emcee Common on the mic and Derrick Rose in a little 3-on-3 action with some lucky Facebook fans at the James R Jordan B&GC following the adiZero Rose 2 launch at Foot Locker on Michigan Ave. Check out the video and stick with Sneaker News for event recaps from around the world.

Kanye West, Common, and Lupe Fiasco all made an appearance at a luncheon on behalf of Kanye’s Foundation on Tuesday at Buca di Beppo Chicago. Kanye whose been seen out in the public more often as of late has also been rocking what could be his new favorite Air Jordan model, the Spiz’ike, a few weeks ago the producer/rapper was seen rocking the Fresh Since ’85 pair in Black and Cement and just yesterday he brought out a pair of the Grape colored Spiz’ikes that were released a few months ago. Kanye is the second celebrity we’ve spotted in this colorway in the past two weeks as The Game was seen wearing them just last week.

Over a year later the Nike x Kanye West Air Yeezy’s are still one of the most desired sneakers that Nike has put ever out and G.O.O.D. Music’s Common brought his pair out of his sneaker closet this past weekend when he rocked the “Only the Brave Block Party 2″ in Paris, France. The rapper/actor seems to be a big fan of this Zen Grey colorway as he was seen rocking them last year during the 2009 NBA Finals in Los Angeles. The Apple Store in SoHo, New York City, hosted Just Wright’s Common and Queen Latifah as a part of their “Meet the Actors” series of events. Common showed up to the event rocking a pair of the soon to be released Nike Sportswear x Mister Cartoon Dunk High AC’s that are a part of the larger Nike Sportswear x Mister Cartoon USA World Cup 2010 Collection. These Dunk High AC’s feature a Grey Canvas upper with a White Swoosh and midsole/outsole, a “Nike USA” script logo courtesy of Mister Cartoon is featured on the tongue of the shoe.

A number of notable celebrities of the music, NBA, and footwear scene came out to take part in the Jordan Brand Classic festivities. Chicago-native Common, R&B singer Mario, Chris Paul of the NOLA Hornets, and head of Jordan Brand Gentry Humphrey were just some of the familiar faces at the commemorative event that went down on Saturday at MSG. To fit the classic Jordan Brand theme, Mario broke out a fresh pair of the just-released Air Jordan VI (6) Pistons while CP3 chose the Air Jordan Alpha 1 in a colorway a few shades off of University Blue. Common had on a pair of the Jordan Flight 45 High that he gracefully wore during his great half-time performance, but what really stole the shoe was Gentry Humphrey’s Air Jordan IX (9) Premio, the next release of the Jordan Brand BIN23 Collection.
