The Converse Canvas Chevronstar CX-250 SU OX is actually built in suede with leather accents, a gold and black combination that always manages to look ‘vintage’ even when they’re brand new. A classically styled vulcanized sole furthers the classic look on this 1977 basketballer, but are they different enough from the Pro Leather, Nike’s Blazer and Bruin or adidas’ Nizza to warrant a purchase? A Chuck Taylor derivation that’s seen limited play even as the One Star expands their classics catalog to keep pace with other brands’ heritage releases, Converse Japan reintroduces a couple of old school court kicks that deserve more time in the spotlight. These new Converse Canvas Chevronstar designs feature tiger camouflage on their contrast-stitched uppers, high and lowtops adding a bit of Pro Leather/Blazer-ish branding instead of the All Star’s ankle patch look.
