Italy’s Slam Jam teases us with this toe-box shot of its upcoming Converse First String collaboration, using “red smiles and gum laces” as the tag-line for this visual hint. We can certainly expect something simplistic and clean from these fellas, who have proven time and time again that their concepts with sneakers have always been well-received by the sneaker community. Following up on Nike’s OG leaning retros as of late, subsidiary Converse is ready to release a couple sneakers aimed at replicating the Chuck Taylor build of old. Arriving this Friday, February 15th is the Converse First String 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star, which uses heavy duty canvas, a license plate looking hit on the heel, and chunkier bits of rubber on the foxing and toe box. This Friday, Converse will introduce the classic Pro Leather to the First String Standards Collection. The Pro Leather is widely recognized as the ‘Dr. J’, a shoe that Julius Erving himself attributes numerous memorable moments to.
