The last time we checked in on Stussy they were back together with Nike SB working on a couple of Trainerendor silhouettes. This time around they’re not messing with that wing of Nike, but they are keeping it in the Swoosh umbrella with their Converse team up. The legendary skate/street imprint has had their way with the Converse Skidgrip, and the result is a black pair with a little bit of contrast white stiching, some checkerboard detailing, and the standard double-S logo. The latest in a long line of DC Comics-inspired Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars comes from Japan in the style of one of the earliest such collaborations.  The DC Comics x Converse Japan U.S. Originator releases are among the designs currently posterboy’d by US-born Japanese TV personality Dave Spector.  But the main stars of this show are Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, as a print reminiscent of the Keaton/Burton-era release joins other Batman and Superman imagery tiled upon the uppers of Chucks, Jack Purcells and Skidgrip slip-ons.  Let us know which you like best and stick with Sneaker News for the next round of DC x Converse kicks because these are a Far East exclusive.

Tinker Hatfield famously holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Oregon, and it’s clear he took his love for design in the right direction.  Some people are meant to spend their lives designing buildings, and few did it more impactfully during the 20th century than Brazilian Oscar Niemeyer.  Niemeyer (born months before Converse was established) helped to define the look of Brasilia in the 1950s, pushed the envelope when it came to utilizing reinforced concrete and sees his nonlinear approach to design carried over onto a quintet of Converse collaborative releases.  The Oscar Niemeyer x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi, Oxford and Chukka Boot join the Skidgrip Ox and Jack Purcell lowtop with designs blending white, beige and red, and you can see all five below before they arrive at select Brazilian retailers this Wednesday, October 23rd.

The Converse Skidgrip models are no stranger to putting on the all over print look, having popped up a couple years back in these candy coated combos. Actually they’re no stranger to the animal thing either, but if you remember that Vanquish collabo pack you’ll recall that the beastly approach was pretty subdued there. Letting the beast out of the cage is the so-called ‘Funimal’ pack pictured above, offering up both leopard print and cow-fur, a pretty rare selection even in the midst of the animal-print craze that we’re experiencing at the moment. Click through with us to check out both and be on the lookout for these at Converse Japan retailers beginning Fall/Winter 2012. Photos: HS

With their numbers slowly climbing but not reaching the levels of some other trends, metal studs on sneakers are either soon to become a major force in ostentatious lifestyle designs, or perhaps destined to maintain a lower profile and keep some of their rebel mystique.  So long as they don’t start popping up on every other shoe, studded kicks do indeed have a ‘hard’ look to them, as evidenced by this new Vanquish x Converse Skidgrip, whose overall sense of rebellious cool is furthered by the tonal black suede and leather combo, the latter of which gets a quilted touch.  They also touch on the recent push toward wild animal prints with a leopard insole; are these worth importing from the Vanquish e-store?
