John Varvatos’ collaboration with Converse will remain popular into the forseeable future thanks to subtle variations like these that reflect his signature aesthetic while allowing for multiple degrees of progress. These new drops pair a couple of Converse All Star Laceless Hi designs cast in canvas with two lowtops done mostly in that same material. But the overall effect of the Sprint Grip Ox is decidedly different thanks to a leather wrap around the sole and tonal and textural contrasts thanks to suede toes. The Converse Premium Collection for spring 2012 proves that this can be achieved in a number of ways, the most to the letter of which is the application of whimsical prints on the Chuck Taylor All Star in the latest round of Converse ♥ Marimekko releases. Longtime One Star guest designer John Varvatos adds his own offerings, but as you might expect, they’re crafted in dingy destructed leathers instead of the classic canvas build.
