John Varvatos is among the sneaker industry’s longest running collaborators, his work with Converse outdating almost all of the ongoing tag-team efforts you see today. And it certainly doesn’t hurt to have longevity built right into the base models, so you can expect the Converse by John Varvatos line to continue for years to come. But before we get ahead of ourselves, how about a preview of the fall 2011 collection, a set that includes classic, Double Zip and Multi-Eye takes on the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. The Star Player and Pro Leather are also along for the ride, though the unique boot-slash-sneaker the Sprint Skidgrip might steal some of their shine. Click through to see the entire collection, and with the fashion world tending to equate ‘fall’ with Q3, you can expect these at higher-end retailers shortly.

He has a CONS signature on the way for fall, but as is made clear by the inner tongue tag of the latest ‘Black Flag’ Converse Star Player Skate XLT, this “colorway [was] inspired by Kenny Anderson.” A suitable holdover till the KA-One hits retail in Q3, this new Star Player Skate is as smooth as Anderson’s street skills, a simple black and white palette that adds a bright blue foxing band to give the shoe a vague Orlando Magic feel. But there’s no slight of hand here, just old school looks with modern tech touches and they’re arriving at select CONS skate retailers even as you read this. via CT

When it comes time to make a list of the best sneaker collaborators, boutiques like UNDEFEATED and Supreme will likely top the list, but we’d be hard pressed to come up with an individual who more consistently cranks out top-notch tag-team efforts than Ronnie Fieg. This dude’s something like a mad scientist when it comes to getting the most out of classic silhouettes and perhaps nowhere has this been more readily apparent than the new Ronnie Fieg x Converse Star Player 75 pack. One hightop and one lowtop are done in premium navy blue and olive green leather, respectively, each held together with tonal stitching and secured by your choice of leather or waxed cotton laces. Toss in perforated leather sockliners and you’re looking at perhaps the best Star Players we’ve ever seen, two dope pairs that’ll hit retail exclusively at David Z.’s flagship on Broadway in New York plus their e-store this Friday, March 18th.

This February, Nike continued their tradition of issuing special sneakers in honor of Black History Month, 2011′s BHM models marked by a luxurious black/gold colorway. The 2011 BHM releases sold quickly thanks in large part to their deluxe aesthetic, but did you know a select few pairs were even fancier? Check out these special wooden box editions of the Air Jordan III, Converse Star Player, Nike Air Force 1 and Zoom Kobe VI. They’re relatively simple when compared to the ZKVI ‘Snake Crate’ or some of the other special packaging we’ve seen in recent years but it seems a fitting match to the sneakers’ understated dignity. Click through to see more and let us know if you would’ve shelled out the extra cash to cop these (or if you’ll be planning to keep an eye out in case they hit the ‘bay). via Mayor
