Jordan Brand presented one of its most unique promo items to date when the ‘Tea For Two’ video appeared starring Carmelo Anthony and Dave White. Today we get a closer look at Carmelo’s choice, the Dave White x Jordan Melo M9 that will apparently incorporate a healthy quantity of 24K gold leaf. This design celebrating Anthony’s 2012 achievements features a starry patriotic vibe in line with the British artist’s previous Air Jordan collaborations; click through so you can see for yourself and decide where these rank.

Adding a bit of extra excitement to the upcoming Dave White x Jordan Melo M9 project is this latest video clip, which lets the audience be the fly on the wall for the meeting between Melo and White. The talk between the two sees them flipping through a good number of potential designs, finally settling on a gold-leaf version that sort of echoes the look from the original Dave White x Air Jordan 1 ‘Wings for the Future’ sample. The starry look is apparently one inspired by his record-breaking 37 point performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics as part of Team USA. The Jordan Melo M9 seems to be getting more special colorways than any of Melo’s previous signature silos, with Jordan Brand fortunately taking advantage of the momentum he’s been building with his spectacular performance with the New York Knicks. It looks like Dave White will be chipping in on the sneaker soon enough, with Jordan Brand dropping the news that Melo met up with the street artist during his recent trip out to the UK (over high tea nonetheless). Let us know in the comments if you’re excited for the Dave White x Jordan Melo M9 and check back on Sneaker News to see how the project turns out.

Printed socks have become all the rage over the last year, so Nike decided to delve into that relatively untapped area of fashion by creating these custom-printed Nike Elite basketball socks. According to the owner, these Nike Elite ‘Dave White‘ socks were made as part of an in-house custom station at a Foot Locker location and were made in limited quantity. Other graphic options were the ‘Galaxy’ theme, the thermo-mapped graphic from the ‘Weatherman’, and a few camouflage-inspired designs. Are socks just as important as the sneakers? Check out the full shots of these socks below and see what the final price for these Dave White undergarments were by checking out the listing from pbody238972 on eBay.

Colorway ‘sampling’ is undoubtedly the biggest trend in custom sneakers these days, and those at the head of the class have progressed all the way to imitating complex designs like the ‘Nerf’ Zoom KD IV and Kobe VII ‘Leopard’. The latest pair is arguably the most complex yet, because not only is it incredibly demanding to replicate an innovative artist’s unique handcrafted style, but also perhaps equally as difficult to blend that application seamlessly with another model’s inextricable signature elements. That’s what make’s Mache‘s Air Jordan III ’Dave White’ customs so impressive, and this new arrangement of the familiar Chicago Bulls colors proves this quarter-century veteran still can still shock us after all these years. Click through for more angles and let us know if these are the best color-swap customs we’ve seen here on Sneaker News.

Although Jordan Brand rarely, if ever, collaborates with an outside source, selecting Dave White as the man to spearhead the collaboration was a decision we could all support. Dave White, whose artworks have instilled him deeply in the sneaker sub-culture, has collaborated with Nike Sportswear many times before, creating a nice capsule of Air Max classics in a redone Black/Grey/Volt colorway. The Air Jordan 1, which we can call the most ‘Lifestyle’-driven Air Jordan of the entire line, was the canvas for this commemorative partnership; 23 pairs of the first Dave White x Air Jordan 1 were created and released via online auction, with proceeds going to the Jordan Brand WINGS For The Future program. A few months later, Sneaker News broke the news of another version of the Air Jordan 1 DW, featuring a brand new colorway. Originally rumored to be a 2011 release, not much has come out of the news-wire supporting such a claim, and a release before the New Year seems rather unlikely. However, a few pairs have popped up for sale at online auctions, which, according to the seller, were from a retailer in China. You might feel a bit antsy from purchasing shoes from that part of the globe due to recent developments involving a certain number of overseas footwear sellers, but check out the gallery of images of this great collaboration below and check out the available pairs from kiddcandy-2008 on eBay.

Best Air Jordan 1 collaboration ever? Dave White’s ‘Wings for the Future’ design doesn’t have a ton of competition, but given that the Levis x AJ1 ’23/501′ package is the only other AJ1 collabo, it would indeed take an impressive effort to take over that #1 spot. DW makes his case with one of the most intricate colorways we’ve seen on this or any other Air Jordan Legacy model, a Chicago-style palette bursting with elephant print, stars and paint splatters that features the classic ‘Wings’ silhouette on the hangtag and insole patch. The warm reception so far pretty well insures these will sell out instantly upon their presumably limited retail release, so click through to see the biggest AJ1 drop since the ‘Banned’ edition and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date. via HC
