SLAM Online ranking Derrick Rose as the 23rd best active NBA player isn’t the kind of MJ linkage you’d expect for a guy who will for many years to come be the youngest-ever MVP. It’s a ludicrous assertion that there are twenty-two players better than D-Rose at this moment, but their ranking hinges on the fact that Chicago’s favorite son can’t contribute all that much until he gets back onto the United Center hardwood. That’ll be next spring at the earliest, so keep your eyes peeled to see if the Bulls 1 starts off in his adiRose 3, or if he goes straight to the postseason/upgrade edition and opts for the adidas Rose 3.5. Today we see both home and away colorups and another that’s roughly inverted as compared to the ‘South Side’ Rose 3 we just showed you. Sneaker News will keep you posted on all the Derrick Rose adidas release dates and you can check out more photos below in the meantime.

The sneaker onslaught won’t stop because we’re already getting a first peek at the halfsie model of the Rose 3 – the adidas Rose 3.5; the upper reconstitutes the diamondesque cut-outs into the upper into a spiraling pattern that centers around the Rose logo on the upper ankle, while the sportier toe-box achieves a graphic with a spherical grid pattern. “A normal person would stop right when they feel pain. I try to go through it . . . to make myself different.”
Thanks to adidas Basketball’s latest marketing campaign, sports fans have by now memorized that sick (not in a good way) Kevin Harlan call from Game 1 of last year’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: “Holding on to his knee. Holding onto his knee and down.” With those words, Derrick Rose‘s season ended along with the Chicago Bulls’ championship aspirations, but don’t expect the NBA’s youngest-ever MVP to just stay down. D-Rose’s knee kept him out of the Olympics this summer, but he worked just as hard as those repeat champions to get back to their level, putting in countless hours of painful rehabilitation so he can once again run the court at United Center. Click through to see part four of ‘The Return of D Rose’ (the ‘Wake Up’ clip is actually the aforementioned TV ad) and stick with Sneaker News for more on Derrick’s comeback in the adizero Rose 3.
