DERRICK ROSE Derrick Rose is an NBA player for the Chicago Bulls, a three time NBA All-Star, the 2009 Rookie of the Year and the 2011 MVP. Rose is an adidas athlete, having signed what was at the time the second largest sneaker endorsement deal in history with the brand and also providing a huge boost to the adidas Basketball lineup through the launch of the adidas adiZero Crazy Light.

adidas Basketball athlete and 2010-11 NBA MVP Derrick Rose will defend his crown on Christmas Day wearing the adidas adiZero Rose 2.0 ‘Windy City’. Inspired by the Christmas holiday and the blue L train of the Chicago transit system, the ‘Windy City’ draws on a personal note with the Chicago subway map graphic on the insole and the brushed metallic appeal of the upper, mimicking the same finish found on subway cars. The Windy City has released in limited numbers already at a few select retailers in Chicago, but will see a much wider release on December 15th at adidas Basketball retailers like Foot Locker. Chicago’s Neal F. Simeon Vocational High School was renamed the Simeon Career Academy, and at least one of its alumni proves that the motto ‘Home of Tomorrow’s Leaders’ is something they take seriously. Three-time state champions in basketball in under 60 years of enrollment, the Simeon Wolverines captured their most recent Illinois crown in 2007 when senior guard Derrick Rose played so phenomenally so as to have his jersey retired as the first one since the school’s gym opened some 25 years ago. And it was that kind of inspired play that made D.Rose’s trip to the NBA via Memphis such a steady upward climb, so only natural that we’d see Simeon shouted out in a new adidas adiZero Rose 2 colorway. The adiZero Rose 2 ‘Wolverine’ goes for a looser interpretation of the team’s Michigan-like palette than the pair of their prequels Derrick wore in the most recent NBA All-Star game; will energetic designs like this one help Three Stripes keep pace with Nike Basketball’s ever impressive output? Short of winning the NBA Title, Derrick Rose could not have asked for much more from the 2010-11 NBA Season. We’re all itching for the start of the 2011-12 NBA Season, during which D-Rose will defend his MVP crown and do what he can to best last year’s finish by reaching the pinnacle of professional basketball – the NBA Finals. The proponderance of affordable digital cameras in recent years has resulted in a sharp increase in the amount of sneaker review videos floating around on the internet. You’d expect to see an enthusiastic young collector when you check out these vids, so seeing the guy whose signature rests on the shoe itself is quite the rarity. Last summer’s most memorable basketball related event took place at a Connecticut Boys & Girls Club. Fifteen months after LeBron James decided that Jason Petrie could do some amazing things with Miami-inspired colorways, there’s not a followup NBA season anywhere in sight, so this recent adidas Basketball event in Chicago could very well turn out to be the attendees’ most memorable roundball moment in 2011-12. ’Run with D Rose’ featured Chitown emcee Common on the mic and Derrick Rose in a little 3-on-3 action with some lucky Facebook fans at the James R Jordan B&GC following the adiZero Rose 2 launch at Foot Locker on Michigan Ave. Check out the video and stick with Sneaker News for event recaps from around the world.

adidas Basketball recently unveiled Derrick Rose’s second signature shoe – the adidas adiZero Rose 2. In one of the most well-done ad campaigns of the year, ‘Unleash The Bull‘ featured League MVP Derrick Rose unleashed in an arena, in which he manuevered around matadors and horsemen. Derrick Rose takes you behind the scenes of the filming of the video, which he says made him feel “like a gladiator”.
