How many of Nike SBs wink-and-nod Mary Jane sneakers do you have in your stash? If the retail joints aren’t enough for you, customizer El Cappy has cranked out a pair of the Nike SB Blazer (what an appropriate model) to pay tribute to everyone’s favorite glaucoma medicine. Pictured here is the Nike SB Blazer ‘Marihuana’, one that puts the plant all over the upper and then drops some extra color in to mimic the packaging of Zig Zag brand rolling papers. “I’m Eric ‘El Cappy’ Lowry and I’m an artist . . . sneakers [are] my canvas.”

Red Bull is a master of marketing innovation, and following up on Felix Bumgardner’s ridiculous space jump, they turn to the sneakerhead scene for one of those win-win situations that’s raising all ships. The energy drink brand profiled Detroit-bred sneaker customizer El Cappy, whose standout designs have risen along with the street-level buzz surrounding custom kicks. Lowry credits Burn Rubber as an early inspiration, and the video switches from his monologue on one of their benches to a fast-forward look at a bold leopard pring Air Force 1 (of 1). Let us know who’s your favorite custom creator at the moment after you’ve seen the video in full below, and check back with Sneaker News for the best designs both official and otherwise.

Air Jordan VII “Goldie” Customs By El Cappy

air jordan vii goldie 1 Air Jordan VII Goldie Customs By El Cappy

This might be the closest thing to a gold-dipped Air Jordan we’ve ever seen, but there’s no surprise that it’s a custom, right? This latest banger from El Cappy reconstitutes ‘Golden Moment‘ (with an emphasis on gold) for a tonal upper and black contrast for a Premio-like level of luxury. The laces have been replaced with a shimmering golden rope, and the midsole ‘peaks’ have been switched to a solid gold as well to complete the exquisite nature of a true gold-dipped shoe, leaving us to wonder if maybe this type of design should’ve been the true ‘Golden Moment’ release. According to El Cappy, these were a custom order for hip-hop act A$AP Rocky, which Cappy notes with the custom heel-badges. More of this amazing custom work below, so give it a look and let us know if you think this version is better than the Golden Moments release!

El Cappy is back to work on Air Jordan’s, taking the logical step up timeline wise from his recent Air Jordan V to get down with the Air Jordan VI. On this piece of work he ports over one of the more prized Nike Dunk’s out there, Futura’s Nike SB Dunk High ‘FLOM’. Of course that silhouette has seen an official remix by the Swoosh team, later touching down on the standard Nike Dunk High silhouette as part of the Livestrong collection, but seeing the allover money print on the Air Jordan VI like this is certainly a first. Hit the jump with us to see the up close shots of Cappy’s crazy handiwork and let us know what you think of the Air Jordan VI ‘FLOM’ in the comments below.

Air Jordan V “Anchor” Customs By El Cappy

air jordan v anchor 1 Air Jordan V Anchor Customs By El Cappy

The symbol of the ‘anchor’ has various meanings within this Air Jordan V custom, brought to us by El Cappy. While he intends the anchor print as a signifier of “the people holding their city down”, the colorway itself is an anchor of the Air Jordan legacy as a whole; red and black has served as the rock-solid core of Air Jordan 1 through 2012, giving the term ‘anchor’ multiple meanings and openness to interpretation. Using a tonal red upper and a unique blacked-out netting, El Cappy employs the ‘all-over’ anchor graphic on the center panel for that dizzying elephant print motif. More angles of this custom below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Air Jordan VI “Pilot Talk” Customs By El Cappy

air jordan vi pilot talk Air Jordan VI Pilot Talk Customs By El Cappy

The Air Jordan VI returns once again as the focus of yet another custom Air Jordan, but with a concept derived from Curren$y’s ‘Pilot Talk’ album of 2010; it features a album’s artwork of a fighter jet coasting through a sky in a green/black landscape, which is used to colorize the upper. The imagery of the planes hits the heel portion of the shoe, while the leafy graphic captures the forefoot, but it’s the translucent candy green outsole that gives the ‘Pilot Talk’ customs a nice punch of color. More of El Cappy‘s work below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Air Jordan 1 “Heavy Hitter” Customs by El Cappy

Did Jeremy Scott get his hands on a pair of Air Jordans? Nope, but it’s hard not to look at these extra embellished Air Jordan 1′s and not get a hint of his flamboyant style. The creation is instead a product of El Cappy, who slams down a bunch of different materials and patterns on the so-called “Heavy Hitter” pair. First there’s the Bowser treatment on the toebox, a combination of a scaled look and some spiky additions. On the back end things get even more frenzied, with a portion of the paneling utilizing a sort of painted elephant print look and other going for a ghostly sort of camo. Click through with us to see this wild Air Jordan 1 and let us know what you think in the comments below.
