The current year-long celebration of AF1-XXX should have you thinking back at some of the true classics that helped build the unbreakable legend of of the Nike Air Force 1. Among the top of the list of greatest AF1s in history is the infamous ‘Fukijama’-designed pair made for Entourage-member Turtle. This Promo sample, rife with sick graffiti-style lasering designed by UNDFTD, made its way out to the public and into the hands of some of the most hardcore sneaker collectors out there. Sitting atop many a grail list is the Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Entourage’ that dropped in 2006. It was a successful spin-off of a special pair of Air Force 1s that were made for on-screen sneakerhead Turtle, designed by fictional street-artist Fukijama. Needless to say, these Entourage joints would elevate any sneaker collection to the level of ‘alpha’, which is why only a select number of individuals even own a pair. However, we may have stumbled upon a piece of history that is rarer than the Air Force 1 ‘Entourage’ – a sample version that uses white tumbled leather instead of the black patent leather seen on the final version. It’s clear that these do get an added punch of contrast with the black swoosh, but it’s not like these need any more help in that department, right? We just mentioned Todd Bratrud’s ‘Cheech and Chong’ Dunk High SB from last spring in reference to the upcoming ‘Bonsai’ Stefan Janoskis, but this model pictured above has it all over that pair when it comes to drama surrounding its release. The Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low Premium ‘Lights Out’ has managed to outlive the hit HBO series, and with more delays and confusion than possibly any other single shoe in history, we wouldn’t blame you for being skeptical about new word of an eventual retail release. But that’s exactly what just happened when Northampton, Mass’ Unite reported that they’ll have a Quickstrike release in March or April of this year, just about a year after the ‘Entourage’ LeBron 8 V/2s dropped in 2011. In the six months since we first saw images of the ‘Entourage’ Nike SB Dunk Low Premium Quickstrike, we’ve seen the shoe come and go, then only release to friends and family, only to pop up again in this slightly altered design and slated for a Black Friday drop–which was canceled. Not only that, but an Air Jordan III ‘Black Flip’ with a similar motif has been announced and released, the Air Jordan 2011 iD allowing for the same kind of look has also launched, and the Dunk Mid SB also got a turn with that classic ‘Supreme’-style textural blocking, not to mention the latest ‘Blackout’ SB Dunk Low. So much has happened to and around this shoe since our initial look that its general release is almost anticlimactic. But this isn’t The Sopranos, so here’s one blackout look that’ll leave you satisfied when you find them available from retailers like pineappleexpress15 on eBay.

Jerry Ferrara, or better known as ‘Turtle’ of the hit show Entourage, was spotted in New York City with girlfriend Alexandra Blodgett. If you’ve been following the show throughout its history, you’d be well aware of Turtle’s gradual and impressive transformation from portly sidekick to lean machine, but one thing that hasn’t budged is his gluttonous attitude toward sneakers. During this late-night sighting, Turtle was wearing the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Loon’, which didn’t quite match his Black and White suit and tie nor his girlfriend’s figure-hugging silver dress. There were all-around good vibes when we all caught a first look at the Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low, but the looming ‘Friends and Family’ tag brought a dark cloud over what could have been one of the best SB Dunk releases in recent memory (by recent, we mean the last four years). Reports that followed included information about HBO not allowing a release to happen due to the sneaker featuring the show’s official branding, and based on the history of previous SB Dunks, it didn’t appear that a release would happen. Then rumors started to fly regarding a possibly August Quickstrike or a special release on 11/11/11, but Brooklyn Projects, a reputable source of Nike SB information, recently mentioned that the Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low would in fact release this October as an in-store Quickstrike. Should we expect something different (for example, no Entourage branding)? We’ve been hearing conflicting stories regarding the possible release of the Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low, but if it’s anything like the last Entourage x Nike collaboration, don’t expect these to be available in stores. Nike SB Dunk aficionados are all crossing their fingers for a release, but according to those who have managed to get a pair in their hands, the Entourage x SB Dunk Low is the dreaded Friends-and-Family variety and will be limited to just 50 pairs for cast and crew. However, this most recent development may prove otherwise, because one noted eBay sneakerslinger has managed to acquire a generous amount of pairs, so let’s hope this is a sign of good things to come. The final season of HBO’s Entourage is scheduled to hit airwaves in a few weeks and while most people are anticipating the season premiere others are buzzing about the Entourage x Nike SB collaboration. A pair recently popped up on eBay and according to the seller, these were made for friends and family only and limited to 50 pairs, much like the recent F&F Air Jordan V ‘Quai 54′ Black. While that’s not confirmed yet, this is a good look into whether or not they will hit retail in the near future. If you want to avoid the possibility of them never hitting retail and can afford it, you can get what could turn out to be a super-rare collectible from rynosomuch on eBay.
