It’s been a little over a year since Eric Koston’s first Nike Skateboarding signature debuted and now we have our first look at the successor. The Nike Eric Koston 2 builds on the first design’s simple aesthetic, adding slatted perforations along the lines of a few upscale Nike Sportswear lifestyle releases. Those fall along the side of a design that looks like a plimsoll from above, but more like a Paul Rodriguez sig on the profile. And just like the regularly updated P-Rod series, the Koston 2 rides a cupsole with a new ‘anatomical’ LunarLon footbed that completes “the original Koston shoe taken to the next level.” Check out the first three colorways below and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

While there hasn’t been any notice of a second coming of the Zoom Eric Koston (not counting that Air Max 90 ‘Heritage’ hybrid shoe), some nice colorways of the original continue to surface. This black/hot red/neon green colorway is actually a sample pair of the Koston 1; it features a tonal black suede upper with quite a punchy midsole/outsole combination of the vibrant red tone and mossy green bottom layer. If you still don’t have a pair of Kostons riding in your rotation (and you should, because these are insanely comfortable), maybe a release of this sample will change that for you. We’ll let you know if these ever escape the ‘sample’ stage, but until then, let us know what you think of the colorway.

Eric Koston’s Nike SB signature sneaker just arrived at retailers last month with a white upper and gum bottom, so while simply swapping to black would make for an equally satisfying design, the Swoosh would rather provide a bit more variety. So instead of this just coming off as the yang to that pair’s yin, this new Nike Zoom Koston 1 subtracts the ‘SB’ branding but adds details like a granite finish Swoosh and speckled outsole toe for a finished product that’s as close to ‘black cement’ as you can get without including Elephant print. Check them out in greater detail below, then find yours through select retailers like Premier.

You know that Air Max 90-infused Eric Koston signature we’ve been seeing with the big X’d out name? Well, don’t worry about losing out on the AM90 flavor because that’s still totally intact, but you can also let your mind relax a bit with the far more convenient name, Nike SB Eric Koston Heritage. The name accomplishes two primary tasks: fitting more readily on a box label, and ensuring that the box of which we speak is one with ‘SB’ branding (remember that Koston’s sig was the first depicted alongside the new SB/6.0 packaging). This almost Air Max 95-like colorway joins the ‘Infrared’ edition we previewed last week; might we luck out and get a ‘Laser Blue’ or another beloved colorup as well? Click through for more, let us know which one looks better so far and stick with Sneaker News for Eric Koston Heritage SB release info. Photos: Dom DeLuca

Eric Koston proved upon the very launch of his first Nike SB signature sneaker that it could blend seamlessly with cutting edge basketball designs, and being the devoted sneakerhead that he is, Koston simply couldn’t stop there. For his latest project, Swoosh skateboarding’s mad scientist reached back into the vaults for a model that debuted a few years before he turned pro, which feels like a lifetime given how many of our readers weren’t even born then. The Nike SB Koston 1 x Air Max 90 offers a re-written trip back through history as we see the beloved ‘Infrared’ motif redone with added emphasis on suede for skating purposes. The entire shoe is still under wraps, but after seeing the custom branding on the heel and lateral badges, we’re starting to get the sense of this as a unique and lovingly crafted project. Stick with Sneaker News to view the Koston 1 x Air Max 90 in full and click through to see more in the meantime.
