It seems like there a lot of folks out there who can’t wait for return of the Ewing 33 Hi, and finally last week, we got our first look at the 2012 retro versions. While we are still waiting for an exact drop date, some new info surfaced today to shed a little more light on the upcoming Ewing 33 Hi release. It appears that the white/blue/orange and red/black/white colorways will be the first two to drop. Retail price will be a very reasonable $100 with an initial size run of men’s 8-15, but Ewing Athletics has also noted that “smaller and larger sizes as well as kids will be added in the future.” Info on the exact release date will be coming soon, so stay tuned for more, and let us know if you’ll be picking up one or both of these colorways when they hit select retailers in August.

2012 is proving to be an awesome ‘comeback’ year for almost all the sneaker brands across the board. Nike is re-releasing some great Trainers and Reebok is getting back in the game with the Questions, but nothing screams ‘throwback’ and tingles the nostalgic bone more than the return of Ewing Athletics. What makes the Ewing comeback that much more enticing is that the label is keeping a tight seal on the project, leaving us with nothing more than memories, the slim selection of pictures on the internet, and the occasional treat directly from the Ewing Athletics Twitter. Sneaker Freaker jumped into the excitement with a sick vintage Ewing feature, highlighting one dedicated collector’s forgotten gems like the 33 Hi, the Rogue, and the Empire – the final bow of Ewing Athletics in 1996. Some major waves rippled through the sneaker world a few weeks back as it was learned that the beloved Ewing sneaker line would be making its triumphant return to store shelves this summer. Aside from the nostalgia stirred by those basketball hangtag images and the Twitter launch that followed, not much else is known about the project at this time, but judging from the reaction to the initial news, there seem to be a lot of intrigued sneakerheads out there itching to get their feet in a pair of Ewings once again. Details are still scarce, but a new development has arisen as the official Ewing Athletics website went live this morning.
