The Extra Butter crew just celebrated its second straight blockbuster release with Reebok this past weekend as an eager crowd began to accumulate in front of Extra Butter on Friday night. It’s not surprising that many of those who came out to cop were repeat customers who were looking to complete their set of Butter-y Pumps, but even those who came through but missed out on the first release still enjoyed one of the best pick-ups of the year. Reebok deserves some undeniable props for its collaborative projects thus far. By finishing off 2011 with the joyous release of the Extra Butter x Reebok AXT Pump ‘AHCHOO’ and starting off 2012 with the 25 years of Workout, the expectations were surely raised to a level that, quite frankly, Reebok hasn’t experienced in a while. If you were a big fan of the Extra Butter x Reebok AXT Pump ‘AHCHOO’, get ready for an entertaining sequel because we’ve got a teaser of the next Extra Butter x Reebok collab, drawing inspiration from the earliest black sheriff in history – Sheriff Ahchoo. Dave Chappelle’s Ahchoo referenced White Men Can’t Jump just a year after it hit theaters, but it took double as long between the eventual Billy & Sidney tribute and a sneaker inspired by Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Leave it to theatrically-themed New York boutique Extra Butter to go a couple degrees further for the inspiration for their Reebok Pump AXT ‘Ahchoo’, a model met with serious anticipation by sneakerheads who lined up in the cold to have a shot at the splendid red suede design. EB staff were on hand in burgundy hoodies with the same arrow’d logo that graced their storefront outside, and you can see a bunch of photos from inside the event after the jump below.

If you gotta get pumped for a sneaker release, look no further than one of the best collarborative storylines of the year, the ‘Ahchoo’ by Extra Butter. Despite surfacing at the last minute, the EB x Reebok AXT Pump still grabbed a good chunk of the votes in the Reebok category of our readers choice poll, but you can really make your vote count by copping one of the most well-executed on-paper-to-product collabs in years. A special release event will unwind midnight tonight at Extra Butter, but if you’re not able to be there in person, these will in fact go in sale tomorrow at 11 am on the EB web store. $135 for some high quality goodness, $60 for a sick limited edition hoodie, or a generous $180 for a shoes+hoodie package deal. Is the best Reebok sneaker release of 2011 one that hasn’t even dropped yet? We’ll let you make the call in the Sneaker News 2011 Readers’ Choice Poll, but there’s no doubting the anticipation Extra Butter has managed to build up with their clever choice of inspiration and its execution. The Extra Butter x Reebok Pump AXT ‘Ahchoo’ takes its theme from Dave Chappelle’s supporting role in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men in Tights and their crew even reprised one of the film’s forest scenes in what might also be one of the very best sneaker-related videos to hit the net this year. The ‘Ahchoo’ Pump AXT will be available in store at midnight next Saturday, December 31st, with pairs to be made available online starting at 11am that morning.

While typically limited in nature, a well-done sneaker collaboration will yield these positive results; the consumer gets treated with an acutely re-energized classic shoe, the manufacturer earns some positive recognition for outside-the-box endeavors, and the other member of the collaborative partnership gets to show off a bit of personality. Extra Butter, the Long Island-based crew that has never shown any sort of hesitation in expressing their own unique drum beat, proves that creativity in a sneaker concept is as important as the sneaker model being featured, which is why it’s garnered so much internet-buzz in a short period of time. Just a few days ago, Extra Butter provided us with a teaser via a remake of a classic scene in Robin Hood: Men In Tights; great acting, production value, and attention to detail is what you’d expect from a perfect movie teaser, and Extra Butter certainly emulated that formulaic approach throughout the entire process. It certainly had the sneaker sub-culture buzzing about the Reebok Pump AXT (originally a training shoe meant for runners), a sneaker that admittedly has fallen on the wayside due to lack of exposure, and with the sick colorway inspired by Dave Chappelle’s ‘Ahchoo’ character, don’t be surprised if ‘Time To Get Pumped’ becomes a common theme in the sneaker game moving forward. In a generation where sneaker retailers have taken the online blogging stream by storm, Long Island’s Extra Butter stays miles above sea level with originality and creativity matched by very few in history. After celebrating its four-year anniversary over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, Extra Butter brings us a Cyber Monday special – a teaser preview of its upcoming Reebok Pump collaboration. Of course, with the store’s silver-screen motif, they’ll have to set it up in only way they know how; using Mel Brooks’ hilarious character ‘Ahchoo’ of Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Extra Butter gives us a quick snippet of the upcoming collaborative release, which we could presume would be similar to those worn by Ahchoo (portrayed in an Oscar-worthy performance by Dave Chappelle) during the hilarious fight scene.
