Proving he’s still down with the Italian sportswear brand, Raekwon recently arrived at a sit-down interview with MTV’s Sway in full Fila sweats and the Fila Original Tennis on feet (Not to mention his next album is titled F.I.L.A.). Here’s one of the most peculiar and unprecedented collaborations in the history of the modern sneaker scene: a collaboration between two significant long-standing labels who occupy such different corners of the footwear market that their team-up is as unlikely as head-on competition. It’s one of those ideas you might reject wholesale if you just read that they were gonna combine the Clarks Originals Wallabee chukka with the Fila Original Tennis, and yet, a quick look at them reveals that this isn’t some manatee idea ball mashup. A swooping Fila stripe integrates into the Wallabee’s iconic vamp quite effortlessly, and though we’re simultaneously curious and terrified by the prospect of further colorways, the red-on-tan flat-out works. A three man dice game where the contestants are playing for literal cheese is a perfect companion to this ‘did this really happen’ project; could you see yourself in the Fila x Clarks Filabee?
