Frank Ocean and his Odd Future affiliates have been credited with (or blamed for, depending on how you look at it) bringing box logos to a more mainstream light, with Supreme’s imagery suddenly infiltrating MTV and the like to a larger extent than ever before. We’ll call Ocean a leader rather than a follower in that regard, with proof shown here via his on feet pair of the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low from back in 2002. Making the picture even more awesome is producer legend and jack of all trades Rick Rubin, whose cameo comes as a token representing the whispers that the two will be working together soon. Right before the MTV VMA’s went down a pretty big blow was dealt to the potential sneaker scene at the show when Kanye West decided not to show up, which frankly might have been a wise move given his previous blow ups at such events. The rest of the folks present very much held things down though, with a pretty good range amongst the sightings. Frank Ocean continued to break out the classics with a pair of the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Supreme’ from yesteryear, Tyga showed off his upcoming Reebok collab, Lil Wayne skated in with his Supra’s, and oddball rapper Riff Raff laced up in the Nike Air Trainer Max 94. Click through with us to check out all these sneaker shots and more from the 2012 MTV VMA’s and let us know in the comments if you think the celeb set did a good job last night.

Last night was a monumental evening for singer/rapper Frank Ocean by all accounts. It was his television debut, with Ocean gracing the same stage that his Odd Future brethren Tyler the Creator and Hodgy Beats rocked on their inaugural TV performance. The moment was made especially poignant by Ocean’s recent personal revelations, with the celebrity set commending his actions and a fair amount more folks suddenly tuned in to the young star. To top it all off his debut album Channel Orange is set to hit stores next Tuesday, a move leapfrogged by the announcement last night that the project would go live on iTunes during his performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And what was Ocean wearing last night on Fallon at the culmination of this media whirlwind? A crisp looking pair of the Air Jordan 1 in black/royal, a sneaker set to retro just next year so you won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on a pair that looks this good. Click through for photos of Frank arriving in his Air Jordan 1′s and let us know what you think of the fit below. Photos: JJ
