The ‘other’ NBA season continued down in Florida when Dwight Howard hosted the D12 Foundation Celebrity All-Star Game at the the University of Central Florida. This game featured a bit of a twist; the two teams were divided up into New School and Old School, with the former consisting of current NBA players and the latter featuring former NBA stars like Penny Hardaway and Steve Francis. The kicks spotted on court had a heavy ‘Air Penny’ theme, as Penny himself wore the Nike Zoom Rookie ‘Memphis Blues’ during warm-ups and switched up to the all-white Foamposite One 1-of-1 PEs for the game. Other notables included Lil’ Wayne’s Binary Blue Zoom Rookies (he coached the ‘New School’ squad) and Earl Clark’s Glow In The Darks, Gilbert Arenas’ Air Jordan VI ‘Orlando’ Customs, Steve Franchise’s Air Jordan 8.0, Quentin Richardson’s Air Jordan XI ‘DMP’, and Dwight Howard’s adiPower Howard. Check out the additional images from this great charity event below and let us know who takes the crown for the best kicks! Thanks to @notmattg!

Chicago’s in, Orlando’s still alive, things aren’t looking great for the Spurs, and the Nuggets can dig for one more day. The 2011 NBA Playoffs continued on this week and we got a look at some more sneakers that came on court. Gilbert Arenas had a solid game off the bench while wearing the Air Jordan XI 25th Anniversary, and teammate Quentin Richardson wore the Jordan Play In These in an ORL-specific colorway. Also forcing another game were the Denver Nuggets, who avoided elimination with a Game 4 win, led by J.R. Smith and his Kobe VI iD and Ty Lawson and his Zoom Uptempo V iD. Both the Lakers and Mavericks took 3-2 leads in their respective series’, with Kobe Bryant wearing the Black/Del Sol colorway of the Kobe VI, Lamar Odom wearing the Hyperfuse 2011, and Dirk Nowitzki wearing the Hyperdunk 2010. Four games into Round 1, and the picture depicting the NBA Champions are a bit more clear. For one, it’s not orange and blue, thanks to a four-game sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics. Carmelo debuted the ‘Home’ colorway of the Jordan Melo M7 Advance, Amare Stoudemire finally revealed a new PE of the Zoom Huarache TR Mid in a blazing orange and white colorway, and Jermaine O’neal wore a Black/Green colorway of the Nike Hypershox 2011. Is the championship picture White, Red, and Yellow? It could be, but the Sixers avoided their own 0-4 sweep by winning Game 4, giving us at least one more opportunity to get a look at the LeBron 8 P.S. Black/Sport Red and D-Wade’s Jordan Fly Wade in the Away PE version. Atlanta got closer to pulling off an upset, as the Hawks took a 3-1 lead in their series with Orlando. The sneaker highlights included Gilbert Arenas’ Nike Air Go LWP, Q-Rich’s Jordan Play In These PE, and Joe Johnson’s Jordan Prime 5. The Bulls still hold a strong 3-1 lead, but an injury to Derrick Rose paired with the Pacers intensified play could change that series.
Out West, Zach Randolph proved that he was worth every penny by hitting a key three-pointer at the end of the game to give the 8-seed Grizzlies a surprising 2-1 lead against the San Antonio Spurs. Kevin Durant, who had been wearing the Zoom KD III ‘POP’ for the first two games, sported a new colorway of the Zoom KD III en route to a win in Game against the Nuggets. One of the more interesting match-ups has been the Blazers/Mavericks series, currently tied at two games a piece; LaMarcus Aldridge wore the Silver/Red PE colorway of the Air Max Hyperdunk 2010, but we should see the second Playoff version soon. The Lakers/Hornets match-up has been a good one as well, and so have the sneakers! We got a look at a new PE colorway of the Nike Hyperfuse 2011 on Lamar Odom as well as a Jordan CP3.IV Home PE. The First Round of the Playoffs are at a halfway point so check out the full recap of the games from the last three nights below! via Yahoo!.

The Round 2 Games of the First Round of the NBA Playoffs began on Monday night, with the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers taking commanding 2-0 series leads in their respective series’. Dwyane Wade debuted the Air Jordan Fly Wade in a White/Red/Yellow colorway while teammate LeBron James donned the LeBron 8 P.S. for the second straight game. Jrue Holiday wore the sparkling blue colorway of the adidas adiZero Crazy Light and Jodie Meeks wore a unique Red/Black Kobe VI iD. On the Chicago/Indiana front, Bulls superstar Derrick Rose wore the adidas adiZero Crazy Light Rose.
Last night’s games were a bit more dramatic, with the Knicks and Celtics going down to the wire again. Carmelo poured in 42 in a losing effort while wearing the Jordan Melo M7 Advance, and Stoudemire, who left the game with injury, wore the Zoom Huarache TR Mid PE. Rajon Rondo did his best to hide Kobe insignia by wearing a white/green Kobe VI iD, which featured a tonal-white upper. Other notables included the various Jordan Play In These F TXT PEs, Gilbert Arenas’ Air Trainer SC, and Brandon Roy’s Zoom Hyperfuse PE. After wearing both the Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’ and Air Jordan IV ’25th Anniversary’ on Tuesday night, Gilbert Arenas followed up his double-Jordan outing with the Air Jordan VII ‘Chambray’ against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Chambray VII released in 2006 alongside the OG Cardinal version as well as four other all-new colorways. The Chambray VII combines Black with Light Graphite and Chambray, which can be best described as a light, baby blue tone. Not a perfect match for Orlando’s Royal Blue uniform, but that never deterred Gil from wearing whatever he wants! We know how you feel, Gilbert. There are certain days when you can decide what shoe to wear, leading us to wear one pair for the first half of the day and rocking another for the latter half. During last night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Gilbert Arenas wore both the Air Jordan IV 25th Anniversary and the Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’ during separate parts of the game. Arenas, who has missed some time to to injury/illness, returned to help the Magic in victory by providing six points off the bench. The rest of the NBA has picked it up in terms of sneaker heat (K-Mart and Lawson in Electric Green Foamposites, Gerald Wallace in Air Jordan IXs), but let’s be reminded once again that Gilbert is this season’s sneaker champ! Check out Arenas and his kicks below and let us know what you think. via ESPN.

Luck was definitely on our side the past couple of nights because we got a look at some great sneakers around the league. Starting off with last night’s games, the New York Knicks had more than luck (try a team record 20 3-pointers) as they took down the Grizzlies in fashion. Carmelo Anthony wore the Jordan Melo M7 St. Patrick’s Day PE while teammate Ronny Turiaf wore the Zoom Kobe VI ‘Rice’ and Amare Stoudemire wore a green/orange PE of the Zoom Huarache TR Mid. Other notables included Derrick Rose’s adidas adiRose 1.5 in green/white, plenty of Nike iDs in the form of Zoom Huarache 2k4s and Zoom Uptempo V. However, amidst all the St. Patty’s Day PEs and personalized iD colorways, Jordan Retros always garner the most attention, like Courtney Lee’s Air Jordan III White/Cement, Gilbert Arenas’ Air Jordan V Black/University Blue, Ray Allen’s Premio IX, and Juwan Howard’s Fire Red AJV. Last night’s NBA action was filled to the brim with new faces in new places, game-winning jumpers and raging come-backs. Starting off in New England, Rajon Rondo wore the White/Green colorway of the Nike Air Max 360 BB Low and new teammate Carlos Arroyo borrowed a pair from Rondo’s stash by wearing a tonal-green Zoom Hyperfuse Low. Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe wore Air Max Fly By PEs against their Celtic opponents. A match-up between two surging teams – the Knicks and Grizzlies – featured Amare Stoudemire and his Huarache TR Mid PEs once again, but was highlighted by Carmelo’s Melo M7 (no Knicks colorway yet?). Michael Beasley, an adidas athlete, brought out some older gems by wearing the adidas KG Bounce. Gilbert Arenas gave a shout-out of sorts to his former partner in crime by wearing John Wall’s Reebok Zig Slash. Did Reebok just find its newest NBA athlete, or is this another one of Arenas’ curious sneaker picks?
