Yes, he’s back, and it only took him two games to reclaim his rightful position as the sneaker king of the NBA. After being picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies, Gilbert Arenas whipped out some sexy sneakers – the unreleased Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid ‘Playstation’ that was part of the ‘Playstation Move’ Pack. Since his uneventful departure from the NBA, it took Arenas quite some time to return to the court, although he did garner some interest from title-contending teams like the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, he joins the Memphis Grizzlies, a team very much in the Playoff race that would love a boost on offense – and who better than one a player who considered one of the most feared scorers in his prime? He clearly has some rust to shake off, but his addition should help the Memphis cause while giving sneaker fans an incredible and long-awaited show! Of course, all credit goes to Amare Stoudemire for making the Zoom Huarache TR Mid a cult hit on the NBA floor with his sick Player Exclusives, but Gilbert’s TR Mid’s aren’t shabby at all! via ESPN

The ‘other’ NBA season continued down in Florida when Dwight Howard hosted the D12 Foundation Celebrity All-Star Game at the the University of Central Florida. This game featured a bit of a twist; the two teams were divided up into New School and Old School, with the former consisting of current NBA players and the latter featuring former NBA stars like Penny Hardaway and Steve Francis. The kicks spotted on court had a heavy ‘Air Penny’ theme, as Penny himself wore the Nike Zoom Rookie ‘Memphis Blues’ during warm-ups and switched up to the all-white Foamposite One 1-of-1 PEs for the game. Other notables included Lil’ Wayne’s Binary Blue Zoom Rookies (he coached the ‘New School’ squad) and Earl Clark’s Glow In The Darks, Gilbert Arenas’ Air Jordan VI ‘Orlando’ Customs, Steve Franchise’s Air Jordan 8.0, Quentin Richardson’s Air Jordan XI ‘DMP’, and Dwight Howard’s adiPower Howard. NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Round 1 – Part 4

April 25th, 2011 by | 5 comments

nba 2011 round 1 part 4 summary NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Round 1 Part 4

Four games into Round 1, and the picture depicting the NBA Champions are a bit more clear. For one, it’s not orange and blue, thanks to a four-game sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics. Carmelo debuted the ‘Home’ colorway of the Jordan Melo M7 Advance, Amare Stoudemire finally revealed a new PE of the Zoom Huarache TR Mid in a blazing orange and white colorway, and Jermaine O’neal wore a Black/Green colorway of the Nike Hypershox 2011. Is the championship picture White, Red, and Yellow? It could be, but the Sixers avoided their own 0-4 sweep by winning Game 4, giving us at least one more opportunity to get a look at the LeBron 8 P.S. Black/Sport Red and D-Wade’s Jordan Fly Wade in the Away PE version. Atlanta got closer to pulling off an upset, as the Hawks took a 3-1 lead in their series with Orlando. The sneaker highlights included Gilbert Arenas’ Nike Air Go LWP, Q-Rich’s Jordan Play In These PE, and Joe Johnson’s Jordan Prime 5. The Bulls still hold a strong 3-1 lead, but an injury to Derrick Rose paired with the Pacers intensified play could change that series.

Out West, Zach Randolph proved that he was worth every penny by hitting a key three-pointer at the end of the game to give the 8-seed Grizzlies a surprising 2-1 lead against the San Antonio Spurs. Kevin Durant, who had been wearing the Zoom KD III ‘POP’ for the first two games, sported a new colorway of the Zoom KD III en route to a win in Game against the Nuggets. One of the more interesting match-ups has been the Blazers/Mavericks series, currently tied at two games a piece; LaMarcus Aldridge wore the Silver/Red PE colorway of the Air Max Hyperdunk 2010, but we should see the second Playoff version soon. The Lakers/Hornets match-up has been a good one as well, and so have the sneakers! We got a look at a new PE colorway of the Nike Hyperfuse 2011 on Lamar Odom as well as a Jordan CP3.IV Home PE. The First Round of the Playoffs are at a halfway point so check out the full recap of the games from the last three nights below! via Yahoo!.

nba 2011 playoffs rd 1 part 2 summary NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Round 1 Part 2

The Round 2 Games of the First Round of the NBA Playoffs began on Monday night, with the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers taking commanding 2-0 series leads in their respective series’. Dwyane Wade debuted the Air Jordan Fly Wade in a White/Red/Yellow colorway while teammate LeBron James donned the LeBron 8 P.S. for the second straight game. Jrue Holiday wore the sparkling blue colorway of the adidas adiZero Crazy Light and Jodie Meeks wore a unique Red/Black Kobe VI iD. On the Chicago/Indiana front, Bulls superstar Derrick Rose wore the adidas adiZero Crazy Light Rose.

Last night’s games were a bit more dramatic, with the Knicks and Celtics going down to the wire again. Carmelo poured in 42 in a losing effort while wearing the Jordan Melo M7 Advance, and Stoudemire, who left the game with injury, wore the Zoom Huarache TR Mid PE. Rajon Rondo did his best to hide Kobe insignia by wearing a white/green Kobe VI iD, which featured a tonal-white upper. Other notables included the various Jordan Play In These F TXT PEs, Gilbert Arenas’ Air Trainer SC, and Brandon Roy’s Zoom Hyperfuse PE. nba feet gilbert arenas air jordan vii chambray 05 NBA Feet: Gilbert Arenas Air Jordan VII Chambray

After wearing both the Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’ and Air Jordan IV ’25th Anniversary’ on Tuesday night, Gilbert Arenas followed up his double-Jordan outing with the Air Jordan VII ‘Chambray’ against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Chambray VII released in 2006 alongside the OG Cardinal version as well as four other all-new colorways. The Chambray VII combines Black with Light Graphite and Chambray, which can be best described as a light, baby blue tone. Not a perfect match for Orlando’s Royal Blue uniform, but that never deterred Gil from wearing whatever he wants! Check out Gilbert and his Air Jordan VII after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more Gilbert Arenas updates throughout the remainder of the season. via ESPN.
