GILBERT ARENAS Gilbert Arenas is an NBA player revered in the sneaker community for his hefty collection and tendency to turn heads with his on-court footwear. Arenas, also known by the nickname “Agent Zero”, has spent the majority of his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, leaving them in 2010 for the Orlando Magic and currently prepping for a 2012 season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The self-proclaimed Sneaker Champ Gilbert Arenas has done quite a nice job matching his kicks with his new white/blue/black Orlando uniform, but yesterday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he decided to rock all the colorways of the rainbow. Gilbert’s latest sneaker sighting involved the Air Jordan VI Retro ‘Olympic’ of 2008, which features a white patent-leather upper with a multi-colored midsole inspired by the Olympic rings logo. These released during the time of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, when Team USA recaptured the Gold medal after only managing a Bronze medal in 2004. Here’s a double-dose of some NBA Feet Air Jordan action. Gilbert Arenas wore the Air Jordan IX in the OG White/Black-Varsity Red colorway during Orlando’s match-up against the Sacramento Kings. Up North, Amir Johnson of the Toronto Raptors grabbed our attention by wearing the Air Jordan XII in White/Varsity Red. While we know about Gilbert’s penchant for sneakers, Johnson has been relatively quiet throughout the season, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know his kicks. In fact, he was spotted wearing Playoff XIIIs during the NBA All-Star Weekend, as he was on hand to assist teammate and Dunk Contest participant Demar Derozan for the night. Ray Allen may have stolen some of Gilbert’s shine this week with his Air Jordan XIII PE during the record-breaking game, but Arenas reminded us once again that perhaps he is the ultimate sneakerhead in the NBA right now. During Orlando’s game against the New Orleans Hornets, Gilbert Arenas wore the Air Jordan IV ‘Military Blue’ to match his Home uniform. The Military Blue IV is an original colorway that released again in 2006, and based on a recent Sneaker News report, these might drop again in late 2011/early 2012. Wanna know why Gilbert Arenas is the Sneaker Champ? He doesn’t only wear the latest releases, but also some older classics (and certifiable heat) that you will only find in a true sneakerhead’s closet. Whether he’s been saving his gems for years to break out on the right day or if he’s amassing a collection right now is irrelevant to the fact that Gilbert’s been presenting us with sneaker haymakers that have left us dazed and wondering “Did that just happen?”. The latest in Gilbert’s NBA Feet selections is the Air Jordan XI Low ‘Snakeskin’, a Retro Jordan that dropped back in 2001 (before Arenas turned pro). Arenas provided a solid 21+ minutes off the bench, scoring 9 and accounting for 5 baskets with his handy assists. The boy finally done did it. Gilbert Arenas finally came through with the long-awaited Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Royal’ during last night’s intra-Florida match-up between the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat. Even more interesting is that this sneaker sighting comes right after the introduction of Gilbert’s ‘Sneaker Champ’ website, which tracks, by date and game, which shoes he’s been wearing during the course of the season. Before the trade to Orlando, Gilbert was wearing a wide variety of heat with the Wizards, so once that trade did go down, our readers were in anticipation of the Penny Foams making an appearance. The league’s biggest sneakerhead now with Orlando, wearing the #1 jersey, rocking the Penny Foams? Yesterday night, against the Detroit Pistons, Gilbert Arenas wore the Air Jordan VI Retro ‘Oreo’ that was released in 2010. This is the second pair of Air Jordan VI Retros that Gilbert broke out for an NBA Game; not long ago, ‘ol Gil wore a crispy pair of the Air Jordan VI Retro Low in White/University Blue. Gilbert’s Air Jordan selections for this season have been impressive at the very least; Space Jams, Premio IX, the aforementioned low-top VI, and Black/University Blue XIVs – the outstanding list goes on and on.
