Taka Hayashi‘s work for Vans Vault tends toward the luxurious upper end of the market. His latest release is self-evidently premium from head to toe, or Lace to Toe, as the case may be. The Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Lace to Toe LX is a lowtop inspired by classic paratrooper boots, constructed in a rich tumbled Horween leather that looks like one of those items you end up loving more and more as they add character with age. Finished with the Vibram Christy Morflex sole that combines vintage American rugged looks with lightweight anti-abrasion technology, the Lace to Toe pictured above will be joined by two additional colorways at select retailers next month, and is further depicted after the jump below.

Horween Leather brings out the utmost beauty in Vans Vault’s classic skate silhouettes. Thank goodness the hits keep coming, because what once looked like a one-off collabo pack was far too good to keep limited to a single round. There are just too many dope options all within the timeless/classy range, and by adding some subtle color, the Horween x Vans Vault Black/Navy pack is a quartet you can’t miss. The Vans Vault Era LX and Piragua LX get steely blue treatments and blackout styles with texture galore thanks to plenty of pebbled leather. Vans once again puts the fine products from Chicago’s Horween Leather to use on a new pack of Vault releases, but this time instead of an Off the Wall skate mainstay, it’s a new boot model that gets the special treatment. The Vans Vault Oxford Toe Cap is the latest lifestyle release from the action sports leader, a classically styled hightops that reflects the scorching hot trend towards traditional menswear in so many different fashion niches. Black and brown pairs feature different midsole treatments but the same embossed leather heel tab, so have a closer look before and find yours today at Vault retailers including The General.

Camouflage on sneakers isn’t usually intended to conceal anything, and in this case, it’s only going to draw extra attention to the premium leathers in use on the latest Vans collaboration. Teaming up once again with Chicago’s Horween Leather, Off the Wall authors another chapter for the Vans Vault whose central theme is an autumn forest. There’s a native subtext as well thanks to the zig-zag stitching on the moc toes of the Horween x Vans Vault Piragua and 106 Moc, along with a similar style on the Sk8-Mid’s Jazz stripes. These are now available at select Vans retailers like Kith and you can see all three pairs up close after the jump.

Vans made good on the promise displayed on a Taka Hayashi collabo tote bag and teamed up directly with Chicago’s Horween Leather for a buttery smooth pack of premium vault releases about two months ago. Their ‘Brushed Camo’ followup pack proves there’s plenty of envelope to push in this partnership, but the theme pictured above is closer to what we’d expect when one of America’s most respected tanneries meets up with classic Cali cool. Bay Area sneakerheads in particular will be interested in the Horween x Vans Vault Mountain Edition Decon LX ’Catcher’s Mitt’, a Rawlings-meets-Timberland mashup that looks like an early present for NL MVP candidate, SF Giants catcher Buster Posey. The Horween Leather x Vans Vault collection that launched last month was everything you’d expect from those brands: premium quality and timeless Califorinia cool on a couple of established designs plus one new one. Their second pairing pushes the boundaries with three relatively uncommon silos and a totally unique material that’ll fool you like any good camouflage is supposed to. The Horween x Vans Vault ‘Brushed Camo’ pack brings back the Vans Piragua we’ve only seen in these collaborations, along with another 106 Moc and the rarely seen Sk8-Mid, all in a camo-stained leather the likes of which nobody else has even tried. A recent episode of Vans’ ‘The Collaboratory’ focused on an upcoming release that represents perhaps the pinnacle of materials for the entire 2012 Off the Wall catalog. Chicago’s Horween Leather comes in with some absolutely delicious choices that add tremendous depth and character to a couple of classic skate models and a new boat shoe named after a frosty Puerto Rican treat. The Horween x Vans Era LX stands out thanks to its use of a pebbled texture on the mid panels, the toes and heels of which are crafted in the same richly marbled cowhide that make up the Mountain Edition Decon and the brand new Piragua. Chicago tannery Horween Leather has been doing their thing for nearly a century but have recently seen their stock rise amongst the sneakerhead set in recent years thanks to a few collaborations. Following up on those partnerships with Converse, Gourmet and Timberland, Horween goes Off the Wall to bring a new level of quality to established silhouettes like the Vans Mountain Edition and Era.
