Did you know that J.Crew has quietly been going to work on the New Balance 996? Their team up models on that silhouette have managed to slip under the model, unlike the 1400s and 998s that have earned so much blog buzz, but maybe this latest pair will change that. The shoe features a faded grey base and some accent colors that have them looking a little brighter than their given name might suggest. Continue reading to get another peek and then head to J.Crew to the “Faded Grey”, or either of the other two J.Crew NB996s currently sitting in stock, today.

Menswear label J.Crew continues its impressive streak of New Balance collaborations with this gritty new concept dubbed the “Concrete Jungle”. Manufactured in NB’s Skowhegan, Maine factory, this Made In USA 998 silhouette gets more love from J.Crew as the sights and sounds of a night out in the city are implemented onto the various upper panels of the sneaker. It’s clear that this model is a favorite of the designers of the brand, and they’ve certainly got the chops to color up a pair of 998s with the best of ‘em. The J.Crew x New Balance 998 “Concrete Jungle” will launch exclusively on September 13th at J.Crew Men’s Stores – that’s the Liquor Store in NYC, Copley Place in Boston, and On Lan Street in Hong Kong. Following that initial release, the shoes will be available at wider J.Crew shops across the globe and at JCrewMens.com on September 17th.

Inspired by American craftsmanship, an ideology mastered by both parties involved, the J.Crew x New Balance 998 “Independence Day” features a masterful use of supple materials with perfect color-blocking to represent the historic holiday. A select number of the shoes will release on June 14th at three locations – the Liquor Store in NYC, The Grove in LA, and at On Lan in Hong Kong, with the first twenty customers at each location receiving a limited Ebbets Field Flannel Hat. A wider release will go down on June 18th in NYC, Boston, LA, Costa Mesa, SF, Honolulu, London, Hong Kong, and at jcrewmens.com. j crew new balance 998 fall 2014 J.Crew x New Balance 998 for Fall 2014

We dread the day that the J.Crew x New Balance collection comes to a halt, but fortunately it looks like that sad day won’t be coming in 2014. On the way from that ongoing collaboration is another New Balance 998 SMU, as evidenced by this photo that’s been floating around for a little while now. We can only assume that this won’t be the only new colorway popping up either, as these two haven’t exactly been shy about crafting SMUs in abundance. Take a look at the New Balance 998 in this exclusive edition below and check back in on Sneaker News as their arrival approaches.

J.Crew’s ongoing range of New Balance SMUs has taken a unique approach to the at-times overwrought collab realm. Rather than stick to super limited numbers, the two have consistently had their shoes a bit more readily available-in all sorts of colorways and silhouettes no less. The latest of silhouettes to join that group was the New Balance 998, a sneaker that we’ve since seen with reflective touches, pebble blue suedes, and more courtesy of J.Crew. Up next in that lineage of releases is the New Balance 998 “Inferno”.

The J.Crew x New Balance partnership doesn’t show any signs of slowing. Next up from those two quintessentially American brands is another New balance 1400 makeup. This one fiddles with the typical equation just a bit by introducing some mesh sections to the toe box and the ankle area guard as on that previous “Baywood Green” release. Tell us what you think down in the comments section and then grab the pair for yourself straight from J.Crew now.

The New Balance x J.Crew partnership has been going strong for a while now, but don’t overlook the best menswear store in the mall’s partnership with Vans.  They’ve been teaming up with Off the Wall starting last year, and here we have a new J.Crew x Vans Authentic that pretty well epitomizes the intent of their ongoing union.  These Chukkas are done in a simple camel brown or dress blue suede with two-tone boot laces, and as the product description says, these have the potential to become “the most comfortable boot in your closet.”  Take another look with more angles waiting below, then pick your Authentic collabs up from J.Crew.
