Sure JR Smith’s shot was pretty off for last night’s Knicks game, but at the very least his sneaker game was on point. Smith went ahead and borrowed an Air Jordan V player exclusive from teammate Quentin Richardson, a dude who isn’t exactly getting the minutes these days to put them to use. As has been the custom for JR as of late, he switched them out at half time for a more performance oriented wear in the form of the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 Low. Continue reading for some shots of JR Smith in these slick Knicks-colored Air Jordan Vs and give us your thoughts on his retro wear in the comments below.

Well, that was embarrassing. J.R. Smith may have been present for Game 5 in the Knicks/Celtics series last night, but he certainly did not show up as he didn’t contribute much to defend his words prior to the game. At least his sneaker game was worth noting, as he laced up the Nike Air Trainer SC High “Auburn” for part of the game. We hope J.R. comes back to his old self for Game 6, which goes down this Friday in Boston. More shots of J.R. in the Bo Jacksons after the jump so take a look and let us know if you think the Knicks will return back to form and take the series tomorrow.

New York Knicks guard and 2013 NBA Sixth Man of the Year proved once again how valuable he is to the Knicks chances at Championship Glory. 19 points off the bench provided some great balance for New York, who took a 2-0 lead against the Celtics, but what was on his feet was equally impressive as he took the court in the Nike KD V Elite “EYBL” PE. These are not intended to release (Leo Chang confirmed four colorways), but who knows – maybe they’ll pop up on eBay sometime soon. Check out this latest bit of NBA Feet awesome-ness below and stay tuned for more of the best NBA Feet coverage of the 2013 Playoffs.

Yes, we’re talkin’ ’bout practice and not an actual NBA game, but what went down at Knicks training facility and J.R. Smith is worth noting. During a team training camp, Knicks guard and noted sneakerhead J.R. Smith was spotted with the Nike LeBron X ‘Carbon’, a shoe that LeBron himself just recently wore over the weekend in a pre-season game in Shanghai. Typically, no other NBA player gets to rock a pair of LeBrons before the man himself has done so in an NBA Game, and even with the 9, only a small handful of players even wore the LeBrons deep into the season (Ty Lawson and George Hill are the two that come to mind). Considering the ‘Carbon’ has yet to release in the states (November 10th is the confirmed release date at this point), it’s interesting to see that J.R. sought after these Blackout LeBrons and made the decision to wear ‘em at his own pleasure. Will the LeBron X be J.R.’s go-to choice for this season?

J.R. Smith has a ton of Air Jordan’s. You should already know this given those teaser shots of his sneaker closet, but if you want a more in depth look at the retro heat he’s got tucked away then here you go. Smith recently took to Instagram to show off the Air Jordan XIII pairs he’s got in particular, pulling off a tricky pose we imagine took a couple of tries with seven different pairs of the sneaker lined up across his wingspan. Let us know in the comments which of these Air Jordan XIII releases is your favorite and stick with us for the exciting retros lined up for 2013 to see if J.R. Smith re-ups on the photo once he adds a few more in there.

This ‘season’ (‘year’ might be a better word, given the circumstances) has been an interesting one for J.R. Smith. Seven years in on his prep-to-pro career in the NBA, Smith chose to avoid all the lockout uncertainty and head eastward to the Chinese Basketball Association. Though he was able to accomplish such feats as scoring 41 off the bench, Smith couldn’t get the Zhejiang Golden Bulls into the CBA playoffs, so with his season over, he was cleared to return to the States. J.R. signed with New York in Feburary at the peak of Linsanity, and though the Knicks are also done, they did manage to break a lengthy postseason losing streak. And now that this shooting guard whose on-court stylings got him onto the All-NBA Feet First Team, is done with a gruelling two-continent campaign, he’s free to goof around and do things like tweet photos of his sneaker closet. As you’d expect from a professional baller, the shelving units are a luxurious wooden build and they’re covered in Air Jordans, everything from 1s to AJF Fusions and some clear evidence that JR’s favorite Jays are the XX (perhaps owing to fond memories of his rookie season) — and what about all those Bibby PEs? Click through to see an expanded view of JR Smith’s sneaker closet and let us know how it compares to some of the other notable collections we’ve profiled here on Sneaker News.

Just two more days until the NBA All-Star Weekend arrives (you know, the All-Star Weekend that almost didn’t happen?), and the NBA sneakerheads look to close out the unofficial first half with some great on-court heat. The Golden State duo in Monta and NateRob rocked the Air Jordan X ‘Old Royal’, which has proven to be the perfect match with their White/Royal/Yellow jerseys. J.R. Smith of the New York Knicks got back to his laced-up ways by wearing the Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ during Monday night’s loss to the Nets. Teammate Jared Jeffries went with the Air Jordan IV ‘White/Cement’, while fellow Jordan Brand Carmelo Anthony, who had been absent for the majority of Linsanity, wore the ‘Home’ Melo M8. Al Harrington of the Nuggets, who sported some LeBron 9 iDs, switched it up by wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe VII iD, as did Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. Another notable baller that made a return was Baron Davis, who reminded us about his Li-Ning BD Dooms. When news of the NBA Lockout began to surface, some NBA players wasted no time in accepting contract offers from professional teams in the Chinese Basketball Association. It gave these out-of-work players a chance to shine brightly on a stage that is perhaps equally as energetic as the one in the United States, and given that the NBA still hasn’t scheduled a tip-off, the move to the other side of the hemisphere, in retrospect, was a shrewd move. Players like J.R. Smith, Wilson Chandler, and Yi Jianlian (who felt right at home) have been sporting some sick sneakers during the games, like the Air Jordan III ‘Doernbecher’ (courtesy of Chandler), the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ (Smith’s doing), and the Air Jordan XIII ‘Bulls’, rocked by former NBA-er Gerald Green. Check out a quick overview of the sneakers spotted around the Chinese Basketball Association and let us know who rocked the best heat!
