Jason Dill continues a period of heavy activity with Vans, making it three-for-three over the past few weeks with a new colorway for the last pair we showed you. This Jason Dill x Vans Syndicate Derby S takes a left turn from the animal print styling he shared with Anthony Van Engelen last summer, following up on last week’s black/white makeup with a new style in soft wheat suede. The all-white sole and corded laces indicate this is too ‘smart’ of a style to be one of a million Timbo tributes, but still manages to evoke traditional craftsmanship, as you’ll see in more photos below and at select Vans retailers like Concepts.

Quick, name a couple of the most significant trends in sneaker design so far in early 2012. Regular Sneaker News readers will be readily able to provide some insight on this topic, our chronicling of fairly huge numbers of simple/elegant black and/or white kicks and almost as many with animal prints early this year a clear indication of the kinds of looks the major brands expect you to want this season. And in the case of this new pack of Vans Syndicate lowtops, they’ve been designed by a couple of pro skaters at the top of their game; in other words, a couple of guys who’re in a perfect position to set street-level trends. The Jason Dill x Vans Authentic Pro ‘S’ puts it all out on the line with a silvery snakeskin upper that represents the counterpart to Anthony Van Engelen’s cheetah print Old Skool ’92 ‘S’. Last but not least is a dual effort on a black leather Sk8-Lo that represents a confluence of the forces detailed above; are those accordingly the best of this pack that’s now available at Premier?

Animal prints are among the most widespread trends for early 2012, and we can trace this recent surge to roots laid in Japan over the past coupld years. Among the earliest adopters were Vans Japan, who brought us in-house designs and WTAPS collabo drops with the safari look, and even a cheeky fly print from Supreme as all the other brands were just catching up. Off the Wall continues this push by bringing to market three new lowtops as crafted by two of the riders they share with Alien Workshop. Anthony Van Engelen and Jason Dill teamed up on the Vans Old Skool ’92 Pro, Authentic Pro and Sk8-Lo and they run the range from black leather-accented cheetah fur to hidden cheetah spots inside a plain black exterior, and all the way back to a silvery snakeskin (respectively). Vans Syndicate releases are among the brand’s most limited, and you’ll find them on March 1st where available. via TDS
