It seems like Pop-Art is making a comeback in more ways than one. After tearing it up at SXSW, Jay-Z returned home to the Big Apple and was spotted in New York City with wife Beyonce and new-born Blue Ivy on their way to Nobu restaurant. Jay-Z’s style caught the attention of some photographers, as he matched his simple gear with the Jordan Son Of Mars ‘Pop-Art’, a shoe that’s been spotted on several celebrities since it released earlier this month. Jay-Z was, as usual, the topic of conversation at the 2012 SXSW music festival down in Texas, as he gave the first solo performance of the event while requiring police escorts in and out of the venue. In between songs, Jay-Z gave special notice to the shoes he had on his feet – the Nike Air Yeezy 2; there’s no doubt that HOV himself is aware of the looming pandemonium of the Air Yeezy 2 release, as campouts have already begun weeks ago for a sneaker that is currently tentatively scheduled for April 13th. While release information for the Air Yeezy 2 continues to be cloudy, Sneaker News still hooked it up with official colorways as well as the news that the rumored March 23rd release was not going down (pushed back to a later date). The only other updates around for the Air Yeezy 2 arrives when the select few in Kanye’s circle gets to wear ‘em out and about, just like how Jay-Z did during the Nets/Clippers game last night. Jay-Z rocked his Solar Red Yeezy 2′s with a matching Diamond Supply fitted cap (that stock just went up, didn’t it?) and a gold chain that could probably be seen from outer space. It takes more than just good luck to stay relevant in rap for more than fifteen years, and Jay-Z has proven time and time again that he’s either the beating heart of hip-hop or right on the pulse no matter the game’s ebbs and flows. A good example was when a 2009 teamup with Kanye and Rhianna sent ‘Run this Town’ to the top of the charts, along with a quote that captured the tonal and toned down post-recession fashion zeitgeist. ‘All Black Everything’ became every sneaker blogger’s favorite way to describe the ever popular ‘Blackout’ and ‘Triple Black’ colorways common to nearly every significant release, but the Nike Air Max LeBron VII ’All Black Everything’ was a different beast entirely. Good fortunes have been coming in Jay-Z’s direction, as the birth of his daughter was followed by the re-birth of the 40/40 club, his lounge venue in New York City. A plethora of celebrities were spotted at the event to support Jay-Z’s latest power move, but amidst the tuxedos and cocktail dresses was Wale’s signature stylings of plaid shirt and Air Jordans. On his feet was the Air Jordan V ‘Tokyo 23′ – the Asia exclusive release of last year that commands close to $1,000 in the open market. Jay-Z has built a reputation of giving special attention to the sneakers he loves, which is why he’s been spotted in Black/Cement IIIs and Air Jordan 1s rather frequently (that’s a solid and concise rotation, is it not?). It seems like the Air Yeezy 2 cracked his exclusive list, because he’s been spotted again with the Yeezys while sitting courtside at the Kentucky vs. Louisville game on Friday. Sports fans may remember that he was under a bit of heat by the NBA for being in the Wildcats’ locker-room after their Final Four clinching back in March, but this time around, he played nice by remaining in the stands and probably won’t be fined by the NBA. Just last night Sneaker News broke the news of a possible Nike Air Yeezy 3 in its beginning stages, as Kanye West mysteriously tweeted his desire to ‘sketch’ the Nike Air Yeezy 3. While this news is rather exciting, we still don’t know much about the Nike Air Yeezy 2, except that the tentative release date is currently set at March 23, 2012, and that the group of people who are known to have the Yeezy 2s in their possession is rather exclusive. You can add Kanye’s ‘big brother’ to that list, as Jay-Z was spotted sitting courtside at last night’s Nets/Hawks game wearing the Air Yeezy 2 in the Black/Pink colorway. The Yeezy 2 is apparently a hot courtside-Feet item for the Watch The Throne stars as Kanye West was also seen wearing the Yeezy 2 during the Christmas Day game between the Lakers and Heat.
