nike extends jeremy lins contract Nike Extends Jeremy Lins Contract

It’s well known that Nike spends a huge amount of time and money scouting out future NBA stars, locking them down with lucrative contracts that are mutually beneficial for the involved parties. This time around it seems as if a star has simply fallen in their lap, as Jeremy Lin (aka Linsanity, Super Lintendo, Lincredible, etc.) has recently gone from sitting on the bench to galvanizing the New York Knicks and lighting up Kobe in the Garden. No doubt a result of the seismic effects of Linsanity, news hit today of Nike extending Lin’s contract, a move that is rumored to grant the newly minted Knicks star his own PE, possibly in the form of the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011. It’s hard to image Nike not striking while the iron is this hot, and you can be sure that Sneaker News will have the info if the Linsanity movement is indeed crystallized in sneaker form. Until then, let us know in the comments if you think this is a good move for Nike and whether or not Jeremy Lin can keep leading his team with such amazing performances. Also, hit the jump for Nike Basketball‘s official statement on his recent rise.

New York Knicks super-fan Spike Lee is recognized for being decked out in the best NY Knicks gear there is, but on Friday and Sunday, the Knicks’ last two games, Spike Lee went back in time to bring out some vintage Jeremy Lin in the form of his Palo Alta H.S. and Harvard jerseys. On Friday, Spike wore the Green/Black/White jersey at the request of Jeremy’s High School coach (according to NBA), and matched it with a neon green undershirt and the Electric Green Foamposite Pros. He followed that up with the Crimson red Harvard jersey, pairing that one with the Metallic Red Foamposite One, but don’t accuse Spike of jumping on the Harvard bandwagon; he taught a class in the early 90′s at the Ivy League school. Which Foam x Jeremy combo is more “Linsane”? Check out the Spike after the jump and let us know.

NBA Feet: Weekend Recap – 2/17 – 2/19

nba feet 2 20 12 NBA Feet: Weekend Recap 2/17 2/19

Quite the eventful weekend, no? With the release of the Air Jordan IV ‘White/Cement’ on Saturday morning and the unfortunate online fiasco that happened in the early morning hours, this past weekend was certainly one of the most eventful ones of the month. Did anyone rock the Cement IV in the NBA? That distinction goes to San Antonio’s DeJuan Blair, who rocked the White/Cement IV with the Spurs throwback jersey. Quentin Richardson might’ve topped that by wearing his Black/Royal PE of the Air Jordan XIII, and Demar DeRozan continued wearing Kobe’s by rocking a sick Red/Black Zoom Kobe VII iD. The Jeremy Lin Show continued with a loss against the Hornets on Friday, but Linsanity returned on Sunday when the Knicks defeated the defending champion Dallas Mavericks in an exciting come-from-behind victory. J.R. Smith made his return to the NBA, chipping in with solid scoring for the Knicks while wearing the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low. The Air Jordan XI was again a popular choice, with the Space Jams and Concords making their weekly appearances, and LeBron James continued rocking PEs of his Nike LeBron 9 in back-to-back appearances against the Cavs and Magic. The weekend was capped off by Durant’s 51 points, Westbrook’s 40, and Serge Ibaka’s triple-double as the Thunder knocked off the Nuggets in OT. Check out all of this weekend’s best NBA Feet sightings and stick with Sneaker News for more NBA Feet features as we near the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend! via ESPN

Why the Cleveland Cavs? Lightly put, Michael, OWNED them. Ask Craig Ehlo, who still might be sitting on the Gund Arena floor doing ‘The Brady’. With the Air Jordan IV celebrating its Jordan-specific milestone year, Jordan Brand has looked back at some of Michael’s greatest hits (for the Cavs, those hits felt like haymakers), and looking back at that memorable video clip, it seems like the pause button was pressed when Michael floated in mid-air for what felt like…an inhuman amount of time. We’ve got some more detailed angles of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ for you below, but if you’d rather see them on your feet, grab one of the available pairs now from jqtechdestination on eBay.

Jeremy Lin is ballin’ outta control in the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low, but are they his favorite shoes of all-time? It must be a dream come true for a sneakerhead to become an official athlete/representative for the brand, and given his recent success and potential as a marketing blockbuster, the Nike x Lin combination is likely be a common theme for the near future. We recently showed you a video of Jeremy Lin showing off his sick two-handed dribbling skills, but Nike also caught him on for a Nike ‘Charge The Court’ moment, asking him a question we all ponder on a daily basis: What’s your favorite Nike shoes of all-time? For casual wear, Lin prefers Air Force 1s, and for balling, he points to a early-2000′s hit – the Nike Shox BB4. Jeremy Lin x Nike Basketball Pro Drills

February 15th, 2012 by | 12 comments

jeremy lin nike pro drills 4 Jeremy Lin x Nike Basketball Pro Drills

Jeremy Lin’s rise to stardom can be compared to a winding up-hill climb rather than a straight shot to the top, but surely the ending is much sweeter when it’s reached via the road less traveled. Undrafted by thirty NBA teams, waived twice, sent down for a ‘tune-up’ in the NBDL, and finally given some burn after the New York Knicks exhausted all their PG options is as much as you can cram into the Jeremy Lin nutshell, but nobody could have predicted the Linsanity that spilled out once that hard shell was cracked open. Lin isn’t just playing ‘well’ – he’s putting up elite numbers that have opposing coaches scrambling for revised defensive game plans to contain the speedy guard, and so far, six out of six teams (and counting) have failed at that task.

Upon entering the NBA in 2010, Nike hand-picked the Taiwanese-American to join its roster of athletes, signing him to a three-year deal for his potential as an intercontinental ambassador for the game; Nike quickly employed his talents by touring him around Taiwan for basketball clinics and tapping his dribbling skills for this Nike Basketball Pro Drills video, which was likely recorded during the most recent off-season. Wearing the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011, Lin shows off his ‘Lin-sane’ two-handed dribbling skills – something that Deron, Devin, Derek, John, Ricky, and Jose have witnessed firsthand – while speaking on the benefits of the tricky exercise. It’s likely that not even Nike anticipated the astounding heights of ‘Linsanity’, but this just goes to show that there are undiscovered superstars around the league waiting to burst into the scene. With Lin telling the most provocative rags-to-riches story in NBA history, is Linsanity enough to get Jeremy his own signature shoe, or even a PE version of his dependable Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low? Check out Lin in this Pro Drills video below and let us know what you think.
