John Varvatos x Converse All Star Laceless Hi + Sprint Grip Ox

John Varvatos’ collaboration with Converse will remain popular into the forseeable future thanks to subtle variations like these that reflect his signature aesthetic while allowing for multiple degrees of progress.  These new drops pair a couple of Converse All Star Laceless Hi designs cast in canvas with two lowtops done mostly in that same material.  But the overall effect of the Sprint Grip Ox is decidedly different thanks to a leather wrap around the sole and tonal and textural contrasts thanks to suede toes.  Check out all four pairs after the jump and grab yours at finer Converse retailers like Kith.

John Varvatos x Converse JP Pro Leather

John Varvatos’ Converse collaborations are typified by premium quality with a well aged look achieved by blackening key elements.  His latest keeps that signature look to a minimum but points just as strongly to the past by applying muted, almost ‘antiqued’ colors along with the kind of broken-in luxury build that’ll have you thinking “They don’t make ‘em like these any more.”  Luckily, they do, and this new round of John Varvatos x Converse JV Pro Leathers in both heights has the kind of timeless appeal that’ll keep them in your rotation for years to come.  Hopefully the same can be said of the Converse by Varvatos collab, and you can grab its latest product at top-tier shops like CNCPTS.

John Varvatos x Converse Star Player EV Mid

John Varvatos‘ sustained attention over the past couple years has given a nice push to the recently resurrected Converse Star Player.  Varvatos’ latest take on this classic hightop offers an expectedly distressed approach that’s achieved differently than anything else he’s done to date.  These new John Varvatos x Converse Star Player Mids should probably cost a bit more than your average pair because of the extra manhours necessary to build the shoe, tear its branding and overlay asunder, apply blackened antiquing on the sole and dispose of the extra waste.  Either that, or Converse is in possession of the most precisely malfunctioning sewing machines in existence.  In any case, you’re looking at a fresh approach to making things look old and used, something JV’s Converse capsule has utterly mastered.  via Dunk

Converse Spring 2012 Premium Collection

One of the key reasons Converse attracts so varied and large a group of collaborative designers, is because their classic models are literally canvases upon which you can apply your own distinctive style.  The Converse Premium Collection for spring 2012 proves that this can be achieved in a number of ways, the most to the letter of which is the application of whimsical prints on the Chuck Taylor All Star in the latest round of Converse ♥ Marimekko releases.  Longtime One Star guest designer John Varvatos adds his own offerings, but as you might expect, they’re crafted in dingy destructed leathers instead of the classic canvas build.  Both of these collabo sets as well as a range of other beloved silhouettes  await your click on the jump below, and you’ll find these in stores at select Converse retailers around the world.

John Varvatos x Converse Pro Leather Mid Spring 2012

When a sneaker company reigns in a hot designer for an indefinite period of time, it’s always interesting to see that collaborator carve out their own niche within the greater image of the brand. We’ve seen guys like Jeremy Scott and Yohji Yamamoto do this over at adidas, and John Varvatos has definitely been on a similar path during his time with Converse. Often applying a distressed look to the All-Star brand classics, the JV collection has also upheld a standard of premium materials. This Spring 2012 release sees both those tactics yet again, with the Converse Pro Leather Mid getting a beautiful leather in opposing black and red colors, with a crinkled texture that shows off the top-notch construction. Get a full look at these pairs after the jump and be on the lookout for them come next year. via FreshNGood

John Varvatos x Converse Star Classic Antique White

Nike Sportswear wasn’t using the name for any currently active releases, so why not share it with another of Nike, Inc’s brands?  The latest Converse by John Varvatos release is the same as the last one, a new pair of Converse Star Classics that manage to stray from Varvatos’ formula for the pre-blackened vintage look.  Combining Antique White tumbled leather with tan and navy blue suedes absolutely does the trick in terms of getting that old school look, though, and these certainly give the other two pairs we showed you last week a run for their money.  Check them out in more photos after the jump, then grab a pair directly from Converse.

John Varvatos x Converse Star Classic Premium

Sneaker News recently showed you that Converse was bringing back one of the rarer models from its archives for the holiday season, so what’ll happen when John Varvatos applies his signature touch to them?  Probably not exactly what you were expecting, as the John Varvatos x Converse Star Classic doesn’t feature the designer’s signature blackened vintage look.  This old school lowtop has all the classic charm it needs built right in, so Varvatos instead applied a couple shades of premium suede to give these a top tier twist so that you can break them in for yourself.  Click through to see navy blue and tan pairs in more detail, then get yours straight from Converse.

John Varvatos x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Snakeskin Leather

When it comes to Converse collaborations, John Varvatos is indeed a star player, but that doesn’t mean all of his releases should come on the silhouette with that name.  In fact, if there were a One Star silo Varvatos is most strongly associated with, it’d have to be the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star hightop he’s done in so many different variations.  This latest is done in the same snakeskin leather we saw on a pair of Star Player EVs last week, the higher cut only serving to make them more eye-catching.  You’ll see more images after the jump and then look for yours at the Converse e-store.
