While Reebok’s team of athletes in the basketball realm may not be as deep as others, they do have a star on their roster in the form of John Wall. His massive endorsement deal has led to a few signature sneakers, and the latest in his footwear line up is a very special edition of the Reebok Zig Encore 2. The ‘Grown Ass Man’ is a commemorative release for John’s 21st birthday, which happened on September 6th, with the sneaker releasing just a few days after on the 10th. The shoe comes in a smart black colorway that mixes hits of navy for a very grown up feel, complete with the ‘Grown Ass Man’ branding on the insoles and a unique cedar box for the packaging. Only 21 pairs will be made available, all of which will be at the Foot Locker in Crabtree Valley Mall in Wall’s hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. Take a full look of this one of a kind birthday release from Reebok after the jump.

Reebok’s latest marketing push comes in form of a video, featuring Reebok Lifestyle collaborator, noted celeb-sneakerhead Rick Ross, and signature athlete John Wall. The three were spotted rocking some sweet Reebok gear for the shoot – Swizz Beatz in Reebok Twilight Zones, Rick Ross in the Omni Pump in Black/Gold, and John Wall in the re-designed Kamikaze. It’s interesting to note that Rick Ross would be part of the promo when it wasn’t even a year ago when he was featured in the Nike ‘BOOM’ advertisement. Also spotted at the shoot was Maybach Music member Meek Mill, who wore Black/Orange Kamikazes. Check out the images from the Reebok Back video shoot below and let us know what you think.

Reebok and its quirky Zig Technology is preparing for its Fall 2011 performance footwear collection, with John Wall’s second signature shoe being heralded as the highlight of the brand’s Fall 2011 Basketball Footwear Collection. John Wall’s second signature shoe, presumably titled the Zig Slash II, features a number of design elements and details like a perforated front toe area, a unique striping detail on the rear that mimics a luxurious woodgrain panel, and what appears to be a modified Zig midsole cushioning system, which features a molded midfoot. Sneaker News had already previewed this shoe before, but here’s a look at two upcoming colorways; a black colorway with a red logo and midsole will release, as will a white/black/red/silver version. Continue reading for more detailed photos of these new colorways of the Reebok Zig Slash II and watch for these to release in the Fall 2011 Season.

Earlier today Sneaker News showed you a new version of the Reebok Zig Slash, presumably the Zig Slash II. That colorway of White/Black/Red didn’t seem to fit much into Wall’s routine, but this new colorway of Black/Blue/White matches the Wizards uniform fairly well. What do you think of the new design of the Zig Slash? The original version featured a unique upper design with tessellations on the upper with large REEBOK branding, but clearly the Zig Slash II takes a more subtle approach in represented the brand (as if Zig could be described as ‘subtle’). We’ve got more images of this new design after the jump, so take a look below and pick up this size 9 sample pair from fenix-2003 on eBay.

Reebok’s brand-new Zig Technology made its share of noise in 2010, signing the number-1 pick of the 2009 NBA Draft to a signature shoe deal while bringing on a slew of marketable characters both on and off an athletic platform. The Reebok Zig Slash, John Wall’s first signature shoe, was on the feet of a healthy number of NBA ballers last year, and the number Reebok representatives in the NBA should increase for the upcoming season given Reebok’s newfound relevance in the game. Here’s a look at a sample of the Reebok Zig Slash II, the sophomore design to John Wall’s signature line. It features revised Zig midsole cushioning system with DMX cushioning poanels and STABLEFIT technology. The upper design is certainly simple, with the oversized Reebok logo and perforated panels with ‘Humble and Hungry’, John Wall’s personal motto, printed on the medial wall. Continue reading for another look at this upcoming sample and stick with Sneaker News for more updates regarding the Zig Slash II, and buy this sample ahead of time by visiting the auction from fenix-2003 on eBay.

Gilbert Arenas sporting a pair of Reebok Zig Slashes in the game immediately following his apparent Air Jordan XIII PE is a bit confusing, but maybe that’s just what we’ve got to expect from Reebok’s revolutionary sneaker series. The Zig Slash is Arenas’ former teammate John Wall’s first RBK signature but certainly won’t be his last and here’s a look at a shoe that, while not guaranteed to be the next, certainly bears all the signs of belonging to Washington’s rookie guard.
This tonal black model emanates from the Reebok Zig Nano series as is clear from its heel, which is peculiar cos this name is shared by a currently available women’s running shoe. On the ZigNano runners, this distinction is a clear allusion to their lower profile Zig Tech cushion, yet Wall’s player exclusives don’t offer that same noticeably slimmer sole. But just like the shoe says on its medial ankles, Wall is ‘humble and hungry’ and you know we’ll see more from him soon as next year’s kicks start their previews but for now have another look at John Wall’s Reebok Zig Nano sample and let us know how they compare to his other kicks seen here on Sneaker News. via hoopchina

Apparently the Reebok/John Wall partnership was a two-way courtship; Reebok wanted Wall, and Wall wanted Reebok. Perhaps it was the promise of a signature shoe (and a generous contract) that put Reebok over the top because with Nike, it was likely that Wall would be given the ‘PE’ treatment like many other Nike athletes in the NBA. Want an idea of what John Wall’s PE logo would look like? Sneaker News filled you in on that when we showed you the unreleased sample of John Wall’s Hyperfuse PE, but here’s a second look via a Marqueesole video preview. Would you rather see Wall in the Zigs (and currently the Reebok Question Mid), or be under Nike’s wing with a Hyperfuse PE? Check out the video below and let us know what you think.

With the second half of the NBA Season now in full swing and the trade deadline approaching, teams on the cusp of contention are turning it up and doing what they can to jump up another level. Just ask the New York Knicks, who just completed a trade for Carmelo Anthony. With their new superstar in the line-up, the Knicks won their first game with Melo hitting a few key shots down the wire. No Knicks PE yet, but Melo wore the White/Obsidian Melo M7 to closely match the Knicks’ Royal and Orange. Earlier today, Sneaker News showed you Amir Johnson’s Air Jordan XII and Gilbert Arenas’ Air Jordan IX, but there were plenty of other notable kicks, like Kobe Bryant’s Nike Zoom Kobe VI PE in purple/white. Joe Johnson wore the Air Jordan Icons for the second game in a row, while John Wall gave his Reebok Question Mid a repeat as well. There’s still a lot more to see so check out the rest of the NBA action after the jump! via ESPN.
