Team USA has done it again. It wasn’t as easy as some expected, with our men’s Olympic basketball squad being tested a couple of times during these summer games, but now that it’s all said and done our elite group is going home with the gold. Their final hurdle was the Spanish national team, one of the deepest in terms of NBA players with big names like the brothers Gasol and Serge Ibaka putting in work.

The rematch of the 2008 Beijing meeting between USA and Spain served up another nail-biter for basketball fans worldwide, with the Spanish squad bringing things within one point at the halfway mark. With their work cut out for them Team USA rose to the challenge; Kevin Durant pulled down 30, Kobe continued to be one of the hardest working players in the world, Chris Paul had his deft play on full display, and LeBron James closed out his incredible run over the past nine months with some huge highlight plays and an Olympic gold medal. Turning to the sneaker side of things there were a few notable shake ups: Chris Paul hit the court in the upcoming Jordan CP3.VI, Durant showed up in the NIKE iD version of the Nike Zoom KDIV ‘USA’ rather than the retail release, Kobe skipped out on his gold medal sneaks, and LeBron of course wowed the world with the debut of his Nike LeBron X (more on that later). The 2011-2012 NBA Season has been quite a successful season for Jordan Brand athlete Chris Paul, but how much of that would you attribute to luck? After leading the Los Angeles Clippers to the 2nd Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs, CP3′s efforts were recognized as he was regarded as the best point guard in the league on both ends of the floor, as he was named to the primary squad of the All-NBA Team and All-NBA Defensive Team. His Jordan CP3.V signature gets the ‘lucky’ treatment as the second ‘Year Of The Dragon’ installment of the year, using the Azure Dragon as the inspiration with particular details on the upper and the outsole. The lightweight aspect of the CP3.V is also accentuated by the ‘cloud’ detail on the tissue inside the box, which shrouds the sneakers. Expect these to hit select Jordan Brand retailers this Thursday, June 7th, so peep the detailed images below to further familiarize yourself with this exciting colorway.

jordan cp3.6 Jordan CP3.VI Upcoming Colorways

Chris Paul finished off one of his most successful seasons of his NBA career while riding the Jordan CP3.V. What moves will he make next year in the Jordan CP3.VI? For now, he’ll be in a Clipper uniform for at least one more season, so let’s take a look at three new colorways of Chris Paul’s sixth signature sneaker that we first showed you yesterday; a Gold/Black/Purple alongside a University Blue/Yellow and the Black/Red/White is what’s brought to us today, and clearly the energetic colorways outweigh the team-based versions by a 5-to-1 margin. What other surprises will Jordan Brand have in store for us to follow this year’s surprising releases like the Jekyll & Hyde Pack? Check out individual shots of all three upcoming releases below and let us know what you think. Photos: us11

jordan cp3.v dragon Jordan CP3.V Year Of The Dragon Release Date

If one of Jordan Brand’s signature athletes deserves the special ‘Year Of The Dragon’ distinction, it is, without question, Chris Paul, the All-Star elite point guard that was just named to the 2012 All-NBA First Team and 2012 All-NBA Defensive First Team. Those are truly Jordan-like recognitions right there, which makes the Jordan CP3.V ‘Year Of The Dragon’ truly a special shoe as Chris Paul embodies the powerful and honorable characteristics of the most daunting beast of the Chinese Zodiac. Featuring a similar color package as the Air Jordan 2012 ‘Year Of The Dragon, this upcoming CP3.V joins the Jekyll & Hyde Pack as the most energetic CP3.V releases of the year and should be one of the more desirable Jordan Brand releases of the month. Circle your calendars for June 7th, as these will hit select Jordan Brand retailers on that date.

Jordan CP3.V ‘Year Of The Dragon’

jordan cp3.v year of the dragon 6 Jordan CP3.V Year Of The Dragon

Last year, Jordan Brand commemorated the ‘Year Of The Rabbit’ with three tributary releases in the form of the Air Jordan VII Retro, Air Jordan 2011, and Air Jordan 2011 Q Flight. If Jordan Brand wants to keep pace (and it should, more goodies for us), they’ve got at least two more to go, but here’s a look at a possible release of the Jordan CP3.V; it features the same White/Gold/Storm Blue/Tide Pool colorway of the Air Jordan 2012 ‘Year Of The Dragon’ and comes housed in the special edition Red/Gold box. No confirmation of a release, although this single promo pair does point to a Summer 2012 release (which gives us until the end of June). More detailed shots below, so take a look and let us now if this is the best CP3.V colorway to date! Photos: gl-y

nba feet 5 14 12 NBA Feet: Weekend Recap 5/11 5/13

Just a small handful of games went down over the weekend, but what the NBA lacked in number, it overcompensated with heated competition and some new sneaks! The Los Angeles Clippers finally put away the tough Memphis Grizzlies as Chris Paul and his CP3.V led the Clippers to victory. Teammate Nick Young wore the best kicks though, wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Metallic Red’ to match the Away uni. On the other side, Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzles brought back the Air Max Tempo in White/Navy. The other LA squad advanced to the second round as well, led by Kobe Bryant who wore the ‘Lakers’ colorway of the Zoom Kobe VII ‘Dart Frog’. The East was already on the Semi-Finals round of play, as LeBron wore the LeBron 9 ‘MVP’ and teammate Dwyane Wade chipped in with the Fly Wade 2 EV. Paul George, who has been Kobe VII-friendly this season, broke out the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’. The final game of the weekend was between Philly and Boston, led by Rajon Rondo’s Zoom Huarache 2K4 iD. More of the NBA below, so take a look and stay tuned for more!  Photos: espn
