The Air Jordan VI-inspired Jordan Flight Club ’91 continues its 2013 roll-out with this White/Gym Red colorway that takes cues from the celebrated “Carmine” colorway of 1991. There’s some speculation that actual version will indeed release in 2014, when Jordan Brand will place a spotlight on the 23rd Anniversary of the Air Jordan VI, but if you just like the AJVI tooling, maybe the Flight Club ’91 is just for you. April isn’t even here yet, but we already want to give you a peek at what Jordan Brand has in store for the month after that. Gathered here are all the official images available so far for the Jordan Brand sneakers that will release in May of 2013. The Air Jordan 1 Strap Low will be a big part of the collection, arriving with a couple exciting styles including a straight up “Black Toe” look. The overall low leaning group, 23 sneakers in all, also includes hits like the Jordan Super.Fly Low, the AJ V.2 Low, and more on the way for the Jordan CP3.VI AE. The Air Jordan Flight Club is an official fanclub that traces its roots back to 1990. Flight Club membership evolved to the point where it entitled holders to cop limited edition Jays online, but that has cooled off in recent years. Now we see Jordan Brand revisit that early ’90s look with a familiar name as the Jordan Flight Club ’91 fast-forwards bit from the initial mailings, this pair combining aesthetics from Air Jordans VI and VII along with the original Jordan 5 ‘Grape’ colorway that’s about to be retroed in May. The recently released Jordan Flight Club ’91 is serving as a nice appetizer for the predicted Air Jordan VI onslaught of releases in 2014, as this funky hybrid model utilizes the Air Jordan VI outsole for that Retro appeal. This classic Black/Red colorway reminds us of that awesome 2010 year of Retro releases when two versions of Black/Red dropped – the Varsity Red in January and the Infrared Pack release in the following June – and we can certainly expect one of those versions to come back in 2014 at the very latest. The return of the Grapes is a Summer blockbuster event we’re all looking forward to, but Jordan Brand has plans of preceding the main event by using that famed colorway on the recently introduced Jordan Flight Club ’91. This new model that we’ve been previewing lately is obviously based on the Air Jordan VI foundation, with a revised upper that adds in some “Huarache” concepts that were used on the Air Jordan VII. As expected, this new Retro-inspired design has received a mixed bag or response, but maybe this popular colorway will help skew the curve towards a more positive reaction. These are expected in March, so check out the extra angles below and stay tuned for further release info.

The Air Jordan VI holds a special place in the hearts of many as it is the first Air Jordan that MJ wore during his first NBA Championship. A ‘Raging Bull’ colorway of the Air Jordan VI would be a dream colorway (or the work of a sneaker customizer), but for official Jordan products, this Jordan Flight Club ’91 is the closest thing we have to work with. This new model itself is a February 2013 debut, with a slew of colorways already made to hit retailers this month like this Gym Red/Black-Night Stadium colorway (a nod to the aforementioned Raging Bull). The inspiration of the design is rather obvious – consider it like a slimmed down version of the Air Jordan VI. Feeling this new design? Expect them at retailers this month or cop now on eBay.
