When you “bum rush the show, you gotta go for what you know,” and for Jordan Brand, that’s a recipe we’ve seen successfully reproduced across a handful of performance basketball silhouettes. Despite its name suggesting they’d be closer to the Spiz’ike or maybe even Son of Mars, the Jordan Flight the Power is actually much more like JB’s Fly Wade series or the AJ2011 Q Flight thanks to a build that sandwiches a feature-rich mid panel between a smooth toe and a branded sweep from the rear. The two most basic colorways you could expect from a Jordan shoe are represented here, with white/black debuting alongside the obligatory ‘bred’ nod, both of which are detailed after the jump. Let us know which pair earns your pick and expect them at US retailers soon. via SM

Coming up one shade short of the classic ‘bred’ look, this new colorway of the Jordan Flight-The-Power lands with a Christmas look instead. The candy-cane combo should look familiar to astute basketball fans, as Ray Allen showed up to play ball in these on the Christmas Day return of the NBA, pairing the kicks with green laces for that true Christmas-time appeal (we’ve got a look at Ray’s Christmas Day in-game kicks below). Looks like you’ll be able to do with same, as the varsity red/white pair is scheduled to show up at Jordan Brand spots this month. Follow us after the jump to get a more complete look at let us know what you think of this Jordan Flight-The-Power.

Jordan Brand has done a wide variety of Spike Lee-referencing work over the past several years, and though the latest isn’t perhaps as obvious as something like the Spiz’ike, the connection is still evident. The Jordan Flight the Power sees its name taken from a play on the hit Public Enemy single ‘Fight the Power’, which was prominently featured on Lee’s 1989 breakout film Do the Right Thing. This pair doesn’t come with the DTRT colorway we’ve seen on Air Jordans 1 or III, but there is a bit of that blue and yellow framed in navy to achieve something closer to Memphis than Brooklyn. Ray Allen and Tyson Chandler have been spotted wearing these in the early goings of the NBA regular season; will you join them and grab yours from a JB retailr like Corporate today?

It’s no secret that the legacy series of Jordan models will always be the main contender over at Jordan Brand, but every once in a while one of the supporting sneakers gives the main line a run for its money. Is the new Jordan Flight-The-Power a case of that? A surprisingly strong reaction from from our comments section suggests so, with this tech’d out shoe with the tongue in cheek name making waves early. And if it needed any help a bred colorway can always do the trick, which we see in the model pictured here. Follow us after the jump for the full look and let us know if you are still feeling the Jordan Flight-The-Power. via RMK

In the late 90′s, Jordan Brand created a line of footwear that was to be built alongside the Air Jordan signature series. Those models, which we now refer to as ‘Team Jordans’, have carved their own path to what Jordan Brand is producing today – performance-based models utilizing some of the latest technologies engineered by Nike. The Jordan Flight-The-Power, which will debut this January, is clearly a tech-inspired shoe, using thin mesh windows that reveal a funky pattern of cables that mimic the performance enhancement of Flywire while providing some visual appeal. The multi-layered construction gives the Flight-The-Power that skeletal, bare-boned theme, and the midsole, with Max-Air cushioning on the heel, appears to borrow a few strokes from the Zoom Hyperdunk 2011. Three colorways are set for a release at a $115 price-tag, so check out all of them below and let us know what you think.
