Unless this is some kind of secondary holiday drift caused by all those folks putting out their Christmas decorations too early, here’s the story of how a holiday known for its red and green combo came to be commemorated by an orange-accented pair of Jordan Melo M8s. It started back in the mid-’00s when the New York Knicks shifted their jerseys from blue to green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, but the look was a natural carryover when New York returned to relevance and a spot on last year’s Christmas Day showcase. So basically, the ‘Christmas’ Melo M8 has a look somewhere between Halloween and St. Patty’s thanks to the economy of producing special edition jerseys, but it’s nice to know you can get more than just a day’s wear out of these. Their green upper and orange laces hearkens back to last year’s‘St. Patrick’s Day’ Melo M7 PE (even the green color is named ‘Clover); which one do you like best? Let us know with a comment when you click through to see more and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date (can’t be too far off with Xmas less than two weeks away).

Knicks playing ball this season? Book it – for now. With a 66-game schedule in the works between the owners and players, we can finally look forward to some on-court heat, like this Green/Orange colorway of the Jordan Melo M8 that could be on the feet of Melo when the Knicks tip off on Christmas Day against the Boston Celtics. These could also make for a great St. Patrick’s Day PE as the New York Knicks have worn Green/Orange uniforms on that holiday for several years, but while there’s no official indication that this is indeed a holiday designation, we’re betting Carmelo will wear these or something close to it once the holiday arrives. Another interesting fact to point out; the last time the NBA experienced a shortened NBA season, the New York Knicks went to the NBA Finals. These have popped up at House of Hoops Barcelona, so check out the extra image below and stick with Sneaker News for U.S. availability.

You’ve never had a true New York City experience until you’ve almost been run over by a yellow taxi cab. For opposing teams coming into Madison Square Garden, we’d like to introduce you to the Knicks’ newest taxi cab – Carmelo Anthony. We can’t help but compare this brightly-colored new edition of the Melo M8 to one of the signature icons of NYC, but although taxi cabs are known to be reckless and rough around the edges, Carmelo and the Melo M8 is a smooth ride from beginning to end. These are set to drop this December, so check out the extra shots below and let us know what you think of the new Jordan Melo M8 ‘Taxi’.

Jordan Brand athletes Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul are currently at Nike World Headquarters participating in some Pro Training drills and performance testing. During the rigorous workouts, the three Jordan Brand athletes were spotted wearing their newest signature shoes – Carmelo with the Jordan Melo M8, Dwyane with the Jordan Fly Wade 2 (releasing early December), and Chris Paul in the Jordan CP3.V (releasing early 2012). You can see Chris Paul taking part in the Nike SPARQ Sensory Performance, which tests an athlete’s ability to manage a number of senses and fine-tune peripheral vision – a key tool for a player in CP3′s position. Prior to the day of workouts, the three athletes attended the Saturday night game between the Oregon Ducks and USC Trojans which took place in Eugene, OR, just two hours from the Nike WHQ. Check out the superstar athletes drop a few sweats below and let us know which of the three new Jordan Brand signatures you like best.

The month of December has been arguably the ‘best’ month for Jordan Brand for the last few years. The phrase “saving the best for last” certainly bodes true for the brand, as the December roll-outs from the previous years included the XI/XII CDP Package, Cool Grey XI, Space Jam XI, Altitude XIII, and more, and December 2011 might top them all with the release of the Concords, Last Shots, Black Flips (confirmed earlier today for a 12/3 release), and a ton more. Here’s a look at what you can expect from Jordan Brand; aside from the Retros, two new Jordan Big Ups colorways will hit, as will a few ‘Concord’ inspired releases of the Jordan SC-2 and Jordan 1 Courtside. There’s plenty more to see below, so take a look and let us know which non-Retro release stands out the most to you, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more Jordan Brand release updates.

Although Gotham City is a fictional city made famous by the Batman saga of D.C. Comics, there are strong connotations that Gotham represents New York City. With Carmelo Anthony’s arrival to the Knicks, New York ‘Gotham’ City has never looked brighter – will he, teamed up with Amare Stoudemire, be able to bring New York back on top? Here’s another look at a super-sleek ‘Blackout’ colorway of the Jordan Melo M8; it’s got that aggressive look with the visible Max Air on the heel and Zoom Air at the fore-foot, the glossy patent leather on the upper emanates a domineering attitude that New York’s been lacking for a decade. December 2011 will be the official month of release for these bad-boys, so take a look below and let us know what you think.

Spike Lee has long been repping Air Jordans in NYC, but now with the arrival of Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks, Jordan Brand has finally made the Big Apple a more official home away from home. Earlier today, we gave you a heads up that Spike will be appearing at the 34th Street Footaction on Saturday, but it looks like JB has more in store for the upcoming weekend. To celebrate the release of some very New York inspired colorways of both Melo and Spike’s shoes, over the next few days, Jordan Brand will be paying homage to the NYC roots of both and hooking up some lucky New Yorkers in the process. Eight sets of amazing signed commemorative boxes will be strategically placed around the city on Friday and Saturday in some spots that hold specific significance to Carmelo and Spike. Jordan will be tweeting clues about the locations starting tomorrow and the first person to solve each clue and find the Jordan street team at the corresponding spot will win both pairs. Eight different locations, eight different winners. Check out the amazing prizes that await after the jump and be sure to follow @jumpman23 on Twitter for the scavenger hunt clues. Good luck to all!

Before the Orange/Blue, Powder Blue/Gold, or even the Orange/Navy, there was this combination of Red/Black/Yellow, representing Oak Hill Academy. This PE colorway of the all-new Jordan Melo M8 was designed just for Melo’s alma mater, combining a Varsity Red patent leather upper with a glossy black Flywire panel, and a bright yellow detailing on the Jumpman logo, the Oak Hill designation on the heel, and the Max Air unit. Oak Hill Academy, due to its ties to Jordan Brand athlete Carmelo Anthony, will continue to be outfitted in Jordan Brand PEs like they have been over the last few years, so stick with Sneaker News for more Jordan Brand PE updates and be sure to let us know what you think of this colorway.
