Adding a bit of extra excitement to the upcoming Dave White x Jordan Melo M9 project is this latest video clip, which lets the audience be the fly on the wall for the meeting between Melo and White. The talk between the two sees them flipping through a good number of potential designs, finally settling on a gold-leaf version that sort of echoes the look from the original Dave White x Air Jordan 1 ‘Wings for the Future’ sample. The starry look is apparently one inspired by his record-breaking 37 point performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics as part of Team USA. Today, Jordan Brand officially unveils its YOTS Collection featuring the iconic Air Jordan 1 and game-changing Jordan Melo M9. Using a special colorway that mixed Blackened Blue, various Reds, Volt, Citrus, and Royal Blue, Jordan Brand found inspired in the snake’s uncanny sixth-sense ability to track down its prey using heat detection. The Jordan Year of the Snake Collection will release on February 2nd with an MSRP of $280 (the official Nike release calendar notes $300) and will come packaged in this luxurious box. The first two-pair pack of Air Jordans in 2013 looks to be the Jordan Brand ‘Year of the Snake’ combo. The set will box together both the Air Jordan 1 ‘Year of the Snake’ and the Jordan Melo M9 ‘Year of the Snake’. The two pairs feature a similar colorblocking apparently inspired by reptilian heat sensing hunting techniques. The box utilized looks to be a pretty cool one too, sporting a shiny graphic down the middle. Get the preview after the jump and watch for the Jordan Brand ‘Year of the Snake’ pack on February 2nd.

Jordan Brand is joining in on the Black History Month celebration with more sneakers than ever before-prepping the Jordan Melo M9, the Air Jordan 1, and the Jordan Spiz’ike with a set of special colors for February. The sneakers convey a sort of ‘Made in Brooklyn’ theme, with Carmelo Anthony, Michael Jordan, and Spike Lee all paid tribute to across the three models (and in the insole of each). Sneaker News broke the news regarding the 2013 Year of the Snake offering by Jordan Brand by revealing that the Air Jordan 1 and Melo M9 would indeed be part of a two-pair Pack. Releasing on February 2nd for $280, the Jordan Brand Year of the Snake Pack will be one of the more sought-after items this Spring season as it revisits the popular ‘Pack’ set-up. However, we can clearly see that the construction of the box is quite different this time around as the two shoes will apparently be laid side-by-side rather than in a stack. This video zooms in Madison Square Garden, focusing on that impossible to capture feeling of playing on the best court the sport has to offer. The Jordan Melo M9 seems to be getting more special colorways than any of Melo’s previous signature silos, with Jordan Brand fortunately taking advantage of the momentum he’s been building with his spectacular performance with the New York Knicks. It looks like Dave White will be chipping in on the sneaker soon enough, with Jordan Brand dropping the news that Melo met up with the street artist during his recent trip out to the UK (over high tea nonetheless). Some 1,500 local youngsters, a select group of media, and the extended Jordan Brand family gathered at the snazzy Cipriani Club 55 yesterday in NYC’s financial district for the Jordan Melo M9 ‘Lock and Launch’ event. The space offered up trials wherein attendees could test out Melo’s recently debuted ninth signature sneaker, a preview of some upcoming colorways (check out the ‘Year of the Snake’ here), and a viewing session for the first two episodes in the ‘Playing for the City That Made Me’ documentary series. Towards the latter half of the evening Carmelo Anthony hit the stage for a Q&A with Knicks legend Bernard King hosted by Sway of MTV fame. Up next, the musical guests kept things focused on the Big Apple, as French Montana and Fabolous both ran through their own quick sets that had the hometown crowd in a frenzy.
