Sneaker News broke the news regarding the 2013 Year of the Snake offering by Jordan Brand by revealing that the Air Jordan 1 and Melo M9 would indeed be part of a two-pair Pack. Releasing on February 2nd for $280, the Jordan Brand Year of the Snake Pack will be one of the more sought-after items this Spring season as it revisits the popular ‘Pack’ set-up. However, we can clearly see that the construction of the box is quite different this time around as the two shoes will apparently be laid side-by-side rather than in a stack. The Jordan Melo M9 seems to be getting more special colorways than any of Melo’s previous signature silos, with Jordan Brand fortunately taking advantage of the momentum he’s been building with his spectacular performance with the New York Knicks. It looks like Dave White will be chipping in on the sneaker soon enough, with Jordan Brand dropping the news that Melo met up with the street artist during his recent trip out to the UK (over high tea nonetheless). Let us know in the comments if you’re excited for the Dave White x Jordan Melo M9 and check back on Sneaker News to see how the project turns out.

Some 1,500 local youngsters, a select group of media, and the extended Jordan Brand family gathered at the snazzy Cipriani Club 55 yesterday in NYC’s financial district for the Jordan Melo M9 ‘Lock and Launch’ event. The space offered up trials wherein attendees could test out Melo’s recently debuted ninth signature sneaker, a preview of some upcoming colorways (check out the ‘Year of the Snake’ here), and a viewing session for the first two episodes in the ‘Playing for the City That Made Me’ documentary series. Towards the latter half of the evening Carmelo Anthony hit the stage for a Q&A with Knicks legend Bernard King hosted by Sway of MTV fame. Up next, the musical guests kept things focused on the Big Apple, as French Montana and Fabolous both ran through their own quick sets that had the hometown crowd in a frenzy. Hit the jump with us to check out the Jordan Melo M9 ‘Lock and Launch’ event recap and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more shots from the floor featuring upcoming colorways of Melo and Jordan’s latest.

Carmelo Anthony welcomed nearly 1,500 youths in the area to celebrate the launch of the Jordan Melo M9 in the Jordan Brand Lock and Launch event held at Cipriani in the Financial District of NYC. On display was the upcoming Jordan Melo M9 “Year of the Snake” with a design inspired by the heat-guided vision of a snake, exemplified by the thermo-graphics on the upper. One interesting note of this upcoming release; the Melo M9 is part of the Jordan Brand Year of the Snake Pack, which includes the Air Jordan 1 that we showed you earlier this past week. The Pack will retail for $280 and will release at select locations on February 2nd, 2013. Additional angles of this exciting release is just ahead, so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more Melo updates.

Today’s retail debut of the Jordan Melo M9 featured a classic Knicks colorway, a UNC-based Black/University Blue, and the Jordan-themed Black/Red, but there’s already something a bit more energetic on the rise – this Black/Vivid Pink composition that is set for a release next Wednesday. Featuring a tonal black upper and a hot Vivid Pink colorization on the midsole, tongue, and surrounding accents, these new Melos should provide some nice variation for Spring 2013 sneaker rotations – especially in New York where the Melo line has thrived. Check out the additional Jordan Brand official images below and let us know if this is the type of off-the-wall colorway the Melo M9 needs in order to be widespread hit.
