Fresh off its first releases this month, the Jordan Son of Mars Low is making a big impact with a variety of colorways previewed. This one is a sample whose retail status is unknown as of this writing, but one that we could fairly confidently predict would make a big splash (especially for the brand new main color) should it hit during the summer months. A spin on the ‘South Beach’ family of palettes that’s been extremely popular for the past couple years, this Dark Sea Son of Mars Low adds Gym Red touches along with black and white on the sole, plus a fruit loop-ish print on the sockliner. Spike Lee’s influence on the popularity of Air Jordans reaches back to the original years of Jordan’s signature line. Over two decades later, the Spike effect still holds strong and true with the wildly popular Jordan Spiz’ike and “sequels” in the Son of Mars and Son of Mars Low; the “Grape Ice” colorway of the Jordan Son of Mars Low is a worthy follow-up to the first “Tour Yellow” release, with a tonal black upper and the Grape/White midsole providing a pretty clean “on-feet” perspective. The Jordan Brand love runs in the family as Spike Lee’s son Jackson was given his own sneaker called the Jordan Son of Mars Low. The Son of Mars category began last year, but Jackson had some input in the design of this new hybrid sneaker, which combines the magnificent era of Air Jordan III through VI. In addition to the “Tour Yellow” and tomorrow’s “Grape Ice”, Jackson gives us an advanced look at the “DTRT” colorway and a fourth version that appears to have “White/Cement” flavor. In 2007 Jordan Brand paid tribute to Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing” film with a special colorway of the Air Jordan III inspired by the original artwork from the movie poster. It appears that Jordan Brand will “do the right thing” once again as we get a special colorway of the newly unveiled Jordan Son of Mars Low in the familiar colorway; some extra features to this version is the speckled midsole and the Pimento red that’s on the pizza delivery uniform worn by Spike’s character in the iconic film. Some extra angles await you below, so take a look and keep an eye out for a release of the Jordan Son of Mars Low “DTRT” on June 29th.

After the “Tour Yellow” release two weekends ago, Jordan Brand will follow up the new Jordan Son of Mars Low saga with this nice “Grape Ice” colorway, falling right in line with the upcoming Air Jordan V “Grape” color theme. The Jordan Son of Mars Low is in fact a design for which Spike Lee’s son Jackson contributed to, throwing in a mix of Air Jordans III through VI for a rather tight hybrid package. This Saturday is the official release date of the “Grape Ice”, so check out the images below and pick up a pair at retailers like Social Status this weekend.
