JORDAN SON OF MARS The Jordan Son of Mars is a hybrid design from Jordan Brand in the same vein as the Jordan Spiz’ike. The name references Spike Lee’s “Mars Blackmon” character frequently featured in Air Jordan ad spots, with the sneaker itself grabbing design elements from all of the Air Jordan models Spike played a part in promoting: the Air Jordan III, IV, V, VI, and XX.

The Jordan Son Of Mars is ready for a worldwide debut later this year, but is the public ready to absorb another multi-Air Jordan hybrid? The Jordan Spiz’ike stands above the entire catalog of Jordan hybrids, with the Six Rings and Dub Zero falling just below it (not much will be said about the Prime 5 or the Rare Air), but the Son Of Mars has quite the heady backstory that could make them one of the best hybrids ever. Drawing inspiration from the Air Jordans in which Spike Lee’s Mars Blackmon played a role in (the Air Jordan III-VI) with the added twist of the Air Jordan XX-inspired midfoot strap, the Jordan Son Of Mars has drawn a ton of attention since it was first unveiled, and should be the focus of a length comments-section discussion after the detailed viewing below. Sneaker News brings you another look at the Jordan Son Of Mars in the White/Black/Purple colorway below so take a good look and don’t hesitate to let your voice be heard!

The Son Of Mars has stirred up some interesting debate once that ‘Olympic’ colorway surfaced late last week, but the understated White/Black/Purple that we showed you earlier seemed to have yielded more positive results. Meshing several Air Jordans into one model is easy to do; doing it seamlessly is exceedingly difficult. Among all the Air Jordan hybrids to have released in the past – the Spiz’ike, Six Rings, Rare Air, Dub Zero, 6-17-23 – only the first of that bunch experienced wide success, so maybe the Spike Lee tie-in will help the Son Of Mars when it releases later this year. This new set of detailed shots of the White/Black/Purple colorway shows that the inclusion of the Air Jordan XX strap gives it a – dare we say – Yeezy-like atmosphere; a closer look at said strap reveals some updated Spike Lee x Michael Jordan imagery, like ‘Mars Blackmon’, ‘Is It The Shoes?’, and ‘Yo Yo Yo’. The Spiz’ike is probably Jordan Brand’s most successful hybrid design to date, and arguably one of the best mashup sneakers ever concieved. We’re coming off a high tide in late 2011 that saw the impressive ‘Knicks Pack’ hit retail along with the first preview images of the ‘Bordeaux’ edition, but even with that kind of momentum, it appears another Spike Lee-inspired hybrid will take the reigns this year. Our latest look at the upcoming Jordan Son of Mars comes in a familiar colorway that the Spizike had also slightly altered, a ‘Grape’ AJV-leaning palette that really emphasizes the fact that the Son of Mars is built upon the Five’s foundation. But these don’t offer any Aquatone or other teal shades to get the full effect (nor do they add red like the Spiz’ikes), so the end result is a fresh twist, just like seeing design elements from Air Jordans III-VI plus XX combined in this new configuration. Earlier today Sneaker News dropped some information on some upcoming Olympic-inspired Air Jordan heaters for the Fall 2012 season. Add this Jordan Son Of Mars to that list, which just so happens to be the first detailed viewing of the Spring 2012 debuting hybrid sneaker; it features a wide variety of inspired design cues, like the Air Jordan V outsole, Air Jordan III upper, Air Jordan VI ankle collar, and an Air Jordan IV netting, all held firmly into place with the new lasered mid-foot strap akin to the Air Jordan XX. The ‘Olympic’ colorway utilizes the Olympic 5 Rings colors of red, blue, yellow, green and black, which should remind you of the Jordan Rare Air ‘Olympic’ that came (and went) in the Fall of 2010. We’ve got a detailed gallery for you after the jump so take a thorough look and let us know what you think. via air-randyhk.

Get ready for a Summer blockbuster in 2012 – Jordan Brand’s got something new for ya. Jordan Brand will release the Jordan Son Of Mars, which combines primary elements from the Air Jordan III, V, VI, and XX, in a number of colorways. We’ve already seen a ‘Bred’ version as well as a White/Cement colorway, but here’s a look at a new ‘Club Purple’ version that resembles the ‘Grape’ due to the purple outsole. The success of multi-Air Jordan hybrids like the Air Jordan Spiz’ike and Jordan Six Rings has sprouted an all-new design concept of Air Jordans, but there have been a few ‘misses’ like the Rare Air and 6-17-23. Is the Son Of Mars a hit? Check out both colorways below and stick with Sneaker News for more updates and info. via MN.

3 + 5 + 6 + 20 = 34. A simple enough equation with a cryptic result is what you can make of this upcoming Air Jordan Hybrid shoe, which clearly combines key elements from the Air Jordan III, Air Jordan V, Air Jordan VI, and Air Jordan XX. Starting from the ground up, this hybrid sneaker utilizes the Air Jordan V midsole, and Air Jordan III mudguard, toe, and heel, and an upper that fuses the Air Jordan XX and the Air Jordan VI. Spin it in whatever way pleases you, and try to come up with some result of ’23′. Maybe the Air Jordan Spiz’ike II? In any case, we have a viewing of a Black/Red/White colorway and a White/Grey version below, so take a look, let it sink in, and let’s hear your thoughts on this Summer 2012 releasing Air Jordan shoe. via kimchee2go on NT.
Update: The name of the shoe is “Jordan Son of Mars”. Thanks @RajuOqium
