If you’ve had your eyes on our extensive coverage of the World Basketball Festival events going down in Washington, DC recently then you should know that the Jordan Super.Fly is a key player in the festivities. Along with a buildout promoting the all new Jordan Brand sneaker, a couple Olympic flavored pairs also popped up in the section of the Armory showing off which sneakers this year’s team would be rocking, suggesting we might see Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and Maya Moore in them come time for the games. Along with that model there is a particular retro near and dear to the hearts of sneakerheads set to a part of this year’s Olympic rollout, the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ which Michael Jordan wore during the incredible Dream Team run of 1992. Yes folks, Jordan is hitting Washington DC this weekend. No His Airness isn’t stepping out onto the hardwood again in a Wizards jersey, but rather Jordan Brand will be making a stop there for the latest leg of the World Basketball Festival. And even if you’re not in the area there’s still reason to celebrate, as this duo of sneakers will be dropping on the weekend as well to commemorate the occasion. The Air Jordan 1 and Jordan Super.Fly RTTG ‘Washington DC’ both emulate the style of a decorated serviceman, paying homage to the many medals and badges that would strip ethe jacket of such a hero via the colorful sections towards the top. While the Nation’s Capitol and Paris are gearing up for the World Basketball Festival, Jordan Brand set up camp in Guangzhou, China for the Jordan Brand House Of Flight Event, giving all the Jordan-crazed locals a chance to participate in some great events circling around the upcoming Olympic Games and the all-new Jordan Super.Fly release. Eventgoers were treated to an amazing outdoor basketball court set-up, where they stepped on the hardwood and got to shoot around with one of the sport’s ambassadors in Yi Jianlian wearing some of their favorite kicks (trust us, there was plenty of ‘Feet’ heat going around!). Also at the House of Flight was an breathtaking Air Jordan exhibit depicting some of Michael’s most memorable moments (the Flu Game, some sick memorabilia from Jordan’s ’92 Olympics) alongside a nice showcase of Jordan Brand’s current NBA superstars. Jordan Brand performance models don’t usually get a lot of press, but to the Jordan Super.Fly has been far from an under-the-radar hit. Instead, the Super.Fly has been the co-center of attention for the upcoming World Basketball Festival dates, acting as Jordan Brand’s ambassador alongside the Air Jordan 1. A ton of GR colorways hit stores in late June, but here’s a look at an August 2012 release that has that Yellow/Black Lightning/T23 vibe; it combines an electric Yellow Zest upper with a black underlayer with hints of Gold and Volt around the shoe. Leading up to the Olympic Games is the World Basketball Festival – a grandiose three-city tour that will features the world’s best playing the world’s most exciting sport. Jordan Brand has placed a special focus on two models that occupy the opposite ends of the Jordan spectrum – the original Air Jordan 1, and the freshly designed Jordan Super Fly. This unique pairing will be Jordan Brand’s focus for each stop of the World Basketball Festival, which begins in Las Vegas, followed by Washington D.C., and concludes in Barcelona.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High and Super Fly ‘Las Vegas‘ is designed with early Vegas performers in mind, who wore black satin jackets and satin linings, while the ‘Dress Blues‘ commemorate the uniform and medals of decorated officers of the Armed Forces. The third and final set is a tribute to the 1992 Dream Team in a colorway inspired by a famous painting of a Spanish Bullfighter. The ‘Las Vegas’, ‘Dress Blues’, and ‘Barcelona‘ will release on three consecutive Saturday weekends beginning this Saturday with the ‘Las Vegas’, so continue on for a detailed look at the entire Jordan Brand World Basketball Festival Pack and let us know which of the three city-colorways you like best!

The Portland based trio known as Undertow collaborates with Jordan Brand once again for a special edition Collection inspired by the upcoming Hit Rewindies art exhibit. Featuring the Jordan Super Fly, Air Jordan Sock, snapback hat, and dress socks designed with the sports and style culture of the 90′s, this limited edition Pack (just sixteen units) is set for an auction release on July 6th – one day after the Hit Rewindies exhibit goes live. Once the auctions end on the 13th, each winning bidder is allowed to choose between sizes 8-13 and should expect to wait 6-8 weeks as each set is custom-made! Sneaker News just showed you the first official images of the Jordan Super Fly, and the most obvious color theme in play on the first round is neon green. Appearing as an accent color on both grey and white pairs, vibrant shades add energy to those otherwise subdued designs, so what would happen with a more ‘traditional’ green hue? That’d put you back in familiar territory as the Super Fly pictured above in green with black and white trim has the look of so many Ray Allen Boston Celtics PEs. In fact, with the first pairs arriving as part of the fall season and these still to follow, the timing should work out to where it’s more likely than not ‘Sugar’ Ray will indeed show up wearing something similar when the Cs make another ‘last’ run at the chip.
