This is what we’ve all been waiting for – an awesome display of on-field footwear for the league’s best. Last week, Jordan Brand unveiled a jaw-dropping collection of Air Jordan IX on-field Player Exclusives for its athletes, and if you paid any attention to the games that went down, you would’ve seen guys like Hakeem Nicks, Josh Freeman, Andre Johnson, Michael Crabtree, and more wearing the AJ9s. It’s perfectly fitting for the Air Jordan IX to be the ‘cleat’ version because Michael Jordan himself wore a similar kind when he played baseball for the White Sox farm system, but did these NFLers rock them better? While all of Michael Jordan’s alter egos continue to get down in the fictional tales spun by the Jordan Brand team, some very real athletes will also be doing their thing in Air Jordan IX’s. Only thing is it will be the cleat version of the MJ retirement shoe, the pairs pictured in this group made for NFL athletes Michael Crabtree, Josh Freeman, Dwight Freeney, Andre Johnson, LaMarr Woodley, Hakeem Nicks and Charles Woodson. It’s finally here, folks – football is back! Tomorrow, the NFL Season will launch its first full day of gridiron action after the Giants and Cowboys put on a show this past Wednesday. With Nike now the official outfitter of the NFL, we’re keeping an extra eye out for special on-field PEs, and already we’re treated with PE specialties for Jordan Brand’s NFL superstar athletes.
