Jun Watanabe’s got a ‘thing’ for polka dots, doesn’t he? The latest offering of the Jun Watanabe for Reebok does in fact feature fuschia dots on the royal blue Pump bladder on the usual vibrant colorway selected by the Japanese designer, only this version brings it atmos into the mix. This three-way collaboration clearly echoes the distinct tastes of our sneakerhead pals in the Far East – but would you cop if they arrived at US retailers? Zozo has these available for purchase at the moment so check out the gallery below and let us know what you think.

Junya Watanabe’s recent sneaker collaborations have carried his own name, most notably a duo of Reebok Insta Pump Furys, the latter of which came to market with a matching RC car for one of the craziest ‘packs’ we’ve seen this year.  The next one comes in a completely different style, and instead of just Jun’s own name on the project, it’s the Comme des Garçons fashion label to which he’s contributed so many designs.  The eYe Comme des Garçons x New Balance 1400 is something like the opposite of the purple and pink polka-dotted Insta Pumps, a simple black suede number with grey stitching and accents that’d be a hit with classic running fans no matter the collaborator.  Check them out up close below and stick with Sneaker News to see if Jun Watanabe’s NB1400s ever make it to US retailers.  via hfundercov

Jun Watanabe x Reebok Insta Pump Fury ‘ver.2′ – Detailed Images

Sneaker collaborations are so common these days, many designers are looking for an extra edge to have their products stand out against a market that puts them out ‘x’ the hundreds.  Some rely on teasing and limited availability, others resurrect forgotten classics and then you have a visionary like Jun Watanabe who’s pushing the envelope from all corners.  Watanabe’s latest Reebok Insta Pump Fury was already audacious in its preview images thanks to a black-on-white dalmatian print accented by pink-to-purple gradients, but applying this motif to Tamiya’s popular Hornet RC car makes for one of the more interesting tie-ins in recent memory.  You’ll have your choice of whether or not to buy the Hornet (as well as with or without accessories) which means not every pair is guaranteed a complete package, but it also ensures that fans of Watanabe’s new Insta Pump Fury won’t be priced out by an ‘extra’ that can cost more than the shoe itself.  Click through to see the whole range, let us know what you think and stick with Sneaker News for more coverage of Japanese-exclusive sneaker releases.  Photos: Eproze

Jun Watanabe x Reebok Insta Pump Fury – Spring/Summer 2012

Mr. Bottle Head is the kind of character you could imagine engaging in habitual patterns, so here’s hoping that Jun Watanabe’s latest collaboration with Reebok is a sign of many to come.  The latest Jun Watanabe x Reebok Insta Pump Fury is very similar to the last on paper: black and white spotted design accented by bright accents in the red and blue range for a wild look befitting 1993′s most forward thinking runner.  But this latest pair re-balances the black/white distribution and varies the sizes of its dots, a look that coupled with a gradient for the color pop midsole, adds to the significant differences between this pair and last summer’s.  Check out the new version in detailed images after the jump and hit up your overseas connects to get a pair from Asian RBK retailers like Limited Edt.

Jun Watanabe x Asics Gel Lyte III

Japanese designer Jun Watanabe started the year off with a Converse Jack Purcell for his Comme des Garçons label, but it was the ‘Mr. Bottle Head’ Reebok Insta Pump Fury that garnered the most attention.  This new Jun Watanabe x Asics Gel Lyte III picks up where that polka-dotted pair left off, utilizing the same colorway, but to a different effect.  Instead of a spotted overlay, these joints use zebra striping to bring out their wild side, the golden midsole section serving to further distance these from Watanabe’s recent RBKs.  Click through to see more angles and stick with Sneaker News for updates on what we expect to be an October 2011 release.  via GLLTN

We’ve seen the Reebok Insta Pump Fury updated with a new high-tech sole and brought back to its roots with OG colorways, but nowhere along this relatively wide spectrum of styles is a model as crazy as this latest release.  Jun Watanabe’s Insta Pump Fury ‘Mr. Bottle Head’ is one of the most eye-catching sneakers we’ve seen all year thanks to the high-contrast polka dot overlay falling on top of a cotton candy base.  They’ve got all kinds of details in homage to Watanabe’s famous character, and just like the figurine releases, this shoe is quite limited.  A mere 500 pairs were produced, but you might be able to get one if you act now, courtesy of Kix-Files.

watanabe pump fury zozo summary Jun Watanabe x Reebok Insta Pump Fury New Images

Following Tuesday’s sneak peek, here’s a comprehensive look at Jun Wantanabe’s Reebok Insta Pump Fury collaboration.  These joints are crafted after Watanabe’s Mr. Bottle Head character, whose face appears on both the ‘tongue’ and heel pull tabs, but you might not even have noticed those.  That’s cos the rest of the sneaker is one of the craziest we’ve seen this year, its white-on-black polka dot scheme offset by blue raspberry accents to complete a look befitting the Insta Pump Fury’s wild lines.  Click through to see more of these and make the appropriate arrangements cos the only place you can get a pair when they drop this May is ZOZO’s EPROZE.
