The proof is in the pudding: Wale‘s got on arguably the most coveted of pairs amongst the trio with recent atmos x Nike Air Max 1 release on feet. Kendrick Lamar goes with last weekend’s Air Jordan XI Low release and J.Cole sports an upcoming pair in the form of the Air Jordan V “Black Grape”. Remember when Kendrick Lamar said he used to want to be like Michael Jordan? It looks like K Dot still harbors some of those feelings, as the much buzzed-about West Coast rapper has been keeping up with the retro releases-evidenced by his Air Jordan V wear here. Then again, Michael Jordan couldn’t be seen wearing the Air Jordan V “Grape” too often, so maybe this particular colorway doesn’t apply. Still going strong in its year-long tour, Sneaker Pimps will now make a stop at one of the largest sneaker epicenters in the world – New York City. This November 11th, immerse yourself in NYC sneaker culture at Sneaker Pimps, which will feature live performances by Kendrick Lamar, Stalley, and a third headlining guest artist. Additional features include an art installation by Brooklyn’s own Stash as well as a dope photography exhibit by Kicks Japan. Compton, CA native and hip-hop up-and-comer Kendrick Lamar was recently spotted at Club Nikki in Las Vegas, performing live in front of crowd this past Friday night. Kendrick’s name is one you should be hearing a lot in the near future, as his recently released album Section.80 has been widely acclaimed by critics and peers. During his performance, Lamar wore the Air Jordan 1 Retro in the original Black/Red colorway. Are these the ‘Banned’ AJ1s that dropped earlier this year? The Jumpman label on the tongue says they are indeed not, but still a sick pair of kicks nonetheless.
