It was February of 2012 when we learned of the last team up between Foot Patrol and Le Coq Sportif. The French/British connection is rekindled for another project, once again taking place on the Le Coq Sportif Eclat. Shown here is the first image of the Foot Patrol x Le Coq Sportif Éclat “Macaron”, a sneaker obviously inspired by everyone’s favorite sandwich style cookie. Following a successful reintroduction late last year, 1985′s Le Coq Sportif Eclat returns with a trio of new ’90s-leaning colorways. Each of these energetic Eclats goes the high-contrast route with a black stripe in the center of each colorway’s heel tiers, adding midsole speckling for a thorough balancing effect. Resurrected by Foot Patrol earlier in the year and blessed with a trio of new colorways for the second half of 2012, the Le Coq Sportif Eclat once again makes its presence known. This time, it’s in commemoration of a new location for British sneaker specialists, Size?, who just opened a new retail location in Paris, home of the Rooster brand. This collaboration has resulted in an insanely limited 12-pair run that’ll arrive at Size? The modern sneakerhead scene is sufficiently robust to support a huge variety of both new and old models, which are coming from an increasingly wide range of sources thanks to some of our nearly forgotten favorites coming back around. One of the more obscure brands (to anyone under 30, anyway) to resurrect their classics has been Le Coq Sportif, the French tennis specialists who outfit Chicago Bulls energy guy Joakim Noah but still don’t have the kind of stateside name recognition as brands like Fila (and maybe even elisse at this point). The Le Coq Sportif Eclat is a good entry point for newbies to the brand, its quintessential ’80s running silo crafted in suede and nylon and set apart from the pack by the rooster-pyramid branding.
