Le Coq Sportif is building some serious momentum behind collaborative releases for their classic running shoes. Here’s a new colorway for the model that Sneaker Freaker chose, which by the way is also a sneaker that hasn’t released in any form in nearly a quarter-century. The Le Coq Sportif Flash very much looks the part of an early ’90s gem in this Sodalite Blue and Festival Fushia makeup, a style tagged for a November release. Le Coq Sportif has been a pretty international brand as of late with their various partnerships. Taking things down under, they’re planning on getting together with Sneaker Freaker next for a special version of the Le Coq Sportif Flash. The shoe bears a “Summer Bay” moniker, channeling a beach paradise vibe that is very much upheld by the summery cornflour blue and dusty pink combination. Le Coq Sportif pushes further with its comeback, bringing back a classic runner along with a few other familiar styles coming up soon. First and foremost, the Le Coq Sportif R1000 returns for the first time since the 1990 originals. OG white/grey/black neon colorway shows how far these style stretch back in time, while a tonal blue plus red style has a more colorful if slightly more conservative approach. Le Coq Sportif is still mostly an afterthought in the mainstream sneakerhead set. But after a couple of collaborations and in-house designs pushed the old school Eclat runner back into the public eye, it’s time for the Rooster brand to strike with another gem from the golden era vaults. This Le Coq Sportif Flash has strong potential to satisfy the serious classic running enthusiast, who by definition is interested in suede and nylon shapes that’ve aged to perfection. There’s one near reproduction of the 1990 original with a slightly lighter shade of grey suede and subtle blocking alteration at the toe and another with blue accents instead of purple.
