It was February of 2012 when we learned of the last team up between Foot Patrol and Le Coq Sportif. The French/British connection is rekindled for another project, once again taking place on the Le Coq Sportif Eclat. Shown here is the first image of the Foot Patrol x Le Coq Sportif Éclat “Macaron”, a sneaker obviously inspired by everyone’s favorite sandwich style cookie. Le Coq Sportif has but one NBA athlete, but they couldn’t have picked a better player to represent the brand than Chicago Bulls energizer rabbit Joakim Noah. Noah is a consistent 10 and 10 guy, but what he lacks in statistical awe he makes up with the kind of unmeasurables that have the Bulls maintaining the league’s best record even as their reigning MVP sits for a third of the season. Jo also plays a critical role as France’s center, earning his tennis pro father’s home nation a berth into the 2012 Olympics by helping them into the EuroBasket 2011 finals. Noah and France might not make it as far in London, but he’ll still have made his mark with this new Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah 3.0 ‘Le Rêve Olympique’, a blue-to-white gradient take on the Tricolore whose rooster logo provides the red third, while heel pods on the outsole reflect the Olympic flag colors. Let us know how these compare to Nike, Jordan and all the other 2012 Olympic basketball sneakers we’ve seen so far and get ready for the 48-pair run of these to hit Limited Editions in Barcelona and London’s Crooked Tongues on July 3rd.

We’re pretty far removed from their 1980′s heyday, so you can get a pass if you’re not up on Le Coq Sportif. Foot Patrol comes through with the assist in what is probably a reintroduction for many, getting together with the French sneaker brand on a super limited release of their Eclat model. The runner is classic suede and nylon fare, with the co-branded tongue showing off the team up and the deep navy upper driving home the Foot Patrol flavor. Check out the shots after the jump from this collab between one of London’s premier sneaker spots and a European powerhouse in athletic gear (word to Bun B). With just 85 pairs available, the Footpatrol x Le Coq Sportif Eclat will hit on Friday, February 24th.

French brand Le Coq Sportif is best known for their racquet sport shoes and apparel and the inevitable sportswear spinoffs, but one of the most unconventional players in the NBA gives the rooster brand a chance to show up in one of the most unlikely places. Then again, when you consider that Joakim Noah’s father Yannick won the 1983 French Open in his home country, it was only natural to see Jo honor his roots. Somewhat ironic then, that the latest Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah Pro Model 2.0 appears in commemoration of St. Patrick’s Day, but that’s not to say the effort is laughable. The kelly-to-grass green gradient that follows the silhouette is among the more aesthetically pleasing shamrock-inspired looks we’ve seen this year, though we can’t help but wonder if subtler branding would have made ‘em even better. Nike celebrates Black History Month with special sneaker releases every February, most of which are connected to the game of basketball. The Swoosh outfits more NBA ballers than any other company, but here’s a tribute befitting a brand who has but one. Le Coq Sportif provides kicks for Chicago Bulls big man Joakim Noah, but with a base in racquet sports (Noah’s father was a pro tennis player), the company gets back to its core with this hanon x Le Coq Sportif Arthur Ashe Premium. This collaboration with Scotland’s best sneaker spot celebrates a tennis legend for whom the USTA’s main stadium in Flushing is named. Their unassuming design seems right for a guy whose soft spoken demeanor belied his ruthless precision on-court, and we’re happy to learn that proceeds from the sales will go to benefit the Arthur Ashe Foundation. A mere 100 pairs will be issued and available for purchase on Saturday, Feburary 26th, so click through to get a better look and let us know if you plan to grab these.
