All of yesterday’s Olympic excitement was capped off by a nice recap of a Dream Team Showcase at a Nike Basketball location in South Korea. If you managed to flip through the gallery of images, you would’ve spotted some interesting figurines modeled after Nike Basketball’s Big Three – Kobe, LeBron, and KD. Turns out it was a Nike-commissioned project, in which they tapped the skills of South Korean toy-maker Coolrainz (they’ve worked together before); a total of six models were made (two of each player), with one in complete Team USA and sig shoe gear and another all-black version with white facial hair and Nike Sportswear apparel. A detailed gallery of the figurines are just below, so take a look and let us know what you think!

Designer Aaron Cooper had the high-pressure task of penning the first chapter of what Nike had projected to be a life-time partnership. Today, the Nike LeBron series is a certified hit, and it all started with Cooper’s Nike Zoom Generation of 2003; the sneaker was constructed inside-out and built on a foundation of comfort, while the design centered around the “modern soldier”, as LeBron transcended Force, Flight, and Uptempo altogether. The finished product was a sleek field-boot style that drew inspiration from the massive Hummer H2 SUV, and upon putting them on for the first time, LeBron stated the shoes were “the most comfortable shoes [he's] worn”. Study up on the first of the Nike LeBron saga below and let us know where the Zoom Generation ranks among your favorite all-time LeBrons!

The Olympics are all business, but if you overpowered your opponent so emphatically like Team USA did Tunisia, you deserve a little break. After defeating Tunisia by a Dream Team-like margin of 47 points, the members of Team USA spent a night out in London – specifically the Funky Buddha venue in Mayfair. All were donned in Nike USA gear from head to toe, with guys like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and James Harden wearing some notable kicks; LeBron was clad in the Trainer 1 Max 360 Breathe, Melo rocked the Blazer Mid ‘USA’, KD rocked the Volt/Black Flyknit Trainers, and Harden brought some Stateside sneaker flavor by wearing the Gym Green Foamposites. More of Team USA in sneaker heat below, so take a look and stay tuned for more Team USA action tomorrow as they take on Nigeria. Photos: zimbio

It’s good to be King, but let’s not forget that LeBron James doesn’t simply wake up in the morning, roll out of bed and start dominating fools. We’ve seen other guys with tremendous athleticism fail to put the whole picture together, but with LeBron, it’s clear that his hard-earned experience informs not only a new found appreciation for the imagination-stimulating powers of a good book, but also a voracious appetite for offseason training. Friday’s torch lighting in London gives James something else to strive for after capturing his first NBA Championship, and these exclusive Nike Lunar TR1s offer a customized ride for all those extra training sessions. DJ Clark Kent got his hands on red and blue styles offering stark contrasts against black and white in totally different ways; which of the LeBron Lunar TR1s would you rather own?

How perfect would it have been for LeBron James and Nike if the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship last year? In a season marred by criticism of all degrees directed toward LeBron James (with Nike making a calculated move to protect its star athlete with the ‘Rise’ advertisement), a Championship trophy in 2011 would’ve shut all the critics up in one fell swoop and LeBron’s decision to leave would’ve been one of intelligence rather than cowardice. That story unfolded for LeBron in the worst way possible, and even Nike didn’t see it coming as they already prepared a ‘Championship’ version of the LeBron 8 in the form of the low-top Flamingos, but a first look at this unreleased and unworn Red/Gold sample sheds even more light on what Nike had planned for and expected of LeBron James. Is this another NBA Championship PE of the Nike LeBron 8 P.S.? Perhaps a Game 7 PE? Let us know what your theories are behind this Red/Gold PE and see if the asking price is worth every penny by checking out the full listing from aznkevin888 on eBay.

To cap off the 2012 Nike World Basketball Festival in Washington DC, Team USA Basketball hosted the Brazil National Team at the Verizon Center for a double-header showcase of exhibition match-ups as a warm-up to the upcoming Olympics Games. Starting the night off, Team USA Womens Basketball faced off against Brazil’s Womens Basketball squad and without surprise, USA pulled off a blow-out victory by 32 points led by point guard Lindsay Whalen. After the women’s match-up, the Men took the court, but Team USA Mens Basketball didn’t have the same fortune as their Womens counterpart did as they trailed by 10 at on point in the game. However, Team USA regrouped thanks to some clutch buckets by LeBron James and the defense by Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and Tyson Chandler, and Team USA eked out a victory by a considerably narrow margin.
One of the highlights of the night was the arrival of President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden; The First Couple were placed on the arena “Kiss Cam”, but embarrassingly enough, President Obama was left hanging. Redemption would be had as the President and the First Lady shared a kiss later when the “Kiss Cam” returned in the Fourth Quarter. All-in-all, it was a night of great basketball entertainment in the Nation’s Capitol, so check out the recap of the night’s game below and don’t forget to look through our thorough recap of the Nike World Basketball Festival!
