Li-Ning Way of Wade “Gradient Peel” Customs for Dwyane Wade by Mache

Mache was apparently commissioned for two separate custom colorways of the Li-Ning Way of Wade by Dwyane Wade. Shown here is the second of the two, the ‘Gradient Peel’ version that is a bit more abstract in its colorway. The white overlay is meant to represent D-Wade’s smooth demeanor, whereas the peeled back colorful madness below stands for his depth and unpredictability while on the court. Li-Ning Way of Wade “War Machine” Customs for Dwyane Wade by Mache

Following up on his ‘Ironman’ inspired work for LeBron James, Mache has now whipped up a ‘War Machine’ look for teammate Dwyane Wade on his Li-Ning Way of Wade signature sneaker. The shoe sports the same gunmetal grey as the armored suit of that Marvel character, and even puts on a paneled look for the upper to complete the inspiration. Dwyane Wade definitely made his own way in this evening’s 2013 NBA All-Star Game, ending up with a strong 21 points while it was all said and done. On the sneaker side he’s making his own way as well via his new Wade imprint under Chinese sportswear powerhouse Li-Ning. The first commercial from the partnership has just arrived, and the spot features Wade out in China calling the shots design-wise for the new Way of Wade sneaker. Li-Ning Way of Wade – Miami Heat PE

While the western world patiently waits for the chance to pick up the Li-Ning Way of Wade at retail, there is one Florida resident who is already enjoying the sneaker in a handful of killer colorways. That would be Dwyane Wade himself, who has been sporting his new silhouette night in and night out for the Miami Heat. The latest colorway on display is this distinctly ‘Heat’ flavored one – a patent leather black and red Way of Wade PE that again picks up on the speckled look for the midsole that has been a common theme with all the colorways we’ve seen so far.

So as we wait for the Way of Wade to makes its way to U.S. retailers, spectators of the sport and the sneaker game have been the chance to survey the sneaker from afar, and based on our reader reaction, it seems like the Way of Wade is definitely attracting attention thanks to the punchy colorways that Wade has displayed since the Wade/Li-Ning announcement was first made months ago. We already know there’s a low-top version in the works (possibly for the Summer), but in the meantime, we’ll get to enjoy Wade tearing it up this season in his new shoes. Li-Ning & WADE Brand Appoint Designer Alejandro Ingelmo as Creative Consultant

Dwyane Wade is making some major moves with Li-Ning, showing the public that he intends to be involved with his WADE Brand under the Chinese footwear giant at every level. His first design team hire as Chief Brand Officer is Alejandro Ingelmo, an award winning fashion designer who will be filling the role of Creative Consultant for Special Projects. Hot on the heels of this announcement, Sneaker News got a chance to sit down with Ingelmo to discuss the new partnership and give you guys the inside scoop on this new WADE Brand development. Li-Ning “Avengers” Pack

Does anyone remember Dwyane Wade’s alter ego ‘Flash’ that was given to him by former teammate Shaquille O’neal? Yeah, neither does Wade. Dwyane did bring his superstar power to the brand (officially announced last week), and while Wade might not be part of this pack of Superhero-inspired releases (Flash is a DC Universe fella), this ‘Avengers’ Pack couldn’t have arrived at a better time as Li-Ning continues to be a trend in sneaker circles. These were originally a sample for the third quarter of 2012, but with that season come and gone, maybe this set of releases won’t ever happen? Although these have no connection whatsoever to Marvel Comics, it’s clear that Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor were the inspiration for these impressive colorways, so check out the gallery below and we’ll let you know if Li-Ning plans to move forward with this release.

Li-Ning Way of Wade – Shanghai Edition

In another exhibition game between the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers in China, Dwyane Wade wore this White/Grey/Black/Red colorway of his Li-Ning Way of Wade dubbed the ‘Shanghai Edition’. This is the second known colorway signifying a major city of China (the first being the Black/Gold ‘Beijing’ that was featured a few days ago), and both share the skewed grid graphic on the toe and the circular logo on the heel. There are still a few intriguing details of the Way of Wade that could use some clarification, like the aforementioned logo and the graphics on the outsole of the shoe, so check out the extra angles of the ‘Shanghai’ Way of Wade and we’ll keep you posted on more Li-Ning Wade news.
