Up next from the always creative Mache is another Nike LeBron 9 Elite custom, this one a special order for actor Mike Witous who plays a role in the upcoming Wizard of Oz remake Oz the Great and Powerful. The sneakers capture the light and dark sides of the flick, with one shoe putting on the colors of the Emerald City and the yellow brick road where the other is clouded in stormy colors as a reference to the tornado that swept Dorothy up. And of course, there’s some ruby red treatment on the toes as an homage to her slippers. When you think of Rasheed Wallace sneakers, there’s no doubt that the Nike Air Force 1 is the first thing that comes to mind. Challenging that just a little bit is this latest piece from Mache-a pair of the Air Jordan IV that upgrades the already ‘Knicks’ looking colorway of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ release with some distinctly Sheed details. On the back end is the Sheed silhouette in its proper place and on the inside is a lining sporting his classic “Ball don’t lie” slogan. Genuine blood on your sneakers is usually a bad look, but Mache manages to do it right with this red splattered pair of the Nike LeBron 9 Elite made as an homage to classic flick American Psycho. The one of one pair looks pretty much what you’d expect a pair to look like if main character Patrick Bateman were to wear them to one of his gory executions. We’re gonna go ahead and say that the guy feels confident on pretty much any silhouette, but still, it seems as if Mache has made the Nike LeBron series his home when it comes to custom creations. His first pair for the year is the Nike LeBron X “LeBronBoutin” shown here, a crazy pair that goes above and beyond the typical paint work for an upper inspired by Christian Louboutin’s increasingly ubiquitous lineup of spiky shoes. Yes, custom creator Mache already slapped his smoky ‘Dark Knight’ look on a pair of the Nike LeBron 9. Upping the ante this time, he brings the Bruce Wayne look over to the elite iteration of the sneaker in the Nike LeBron 9 Elite ‘Dark Knight V2′ shown above. And we have to say that as far as crime-fighting sneakers go, this one might work a bit better thanks to the extended carbon fiber treatment. Which Batman pair you do prefer? The whole category of lightning inspired sneakers from the Kevin Durant line is sort of already built in, his Thunder NBA home offering up an easy connection. This pair is something more though, the electric graphics actually a tribute to fallen guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott of Pantera fame. On top of that, this latest Mache custom also plants the logo from the album Cowboys from Hell on the strap and a little “RIP Dimebag” tribute on the inner part of said fastener. In case you couldn’t tell, Mache’s name is definitely ringing out well beyond the world of the sneaker-centric blogosphere right now. LeBron James recently lauded his work on the Nike LeBron X, and now West Coast rapper Game has tapped him to put together a custom pair. The result is this, the Air Jordan IV ‘Jesus Piece’, a celebratory work to coincide with his album of the same name that’s hitting today. The aim is very much a ‘Raging Bull’ one, the red suede look ported over pretty flawlessly as shown in the pictures gathered here. Really Mache? You really already whipped up an Air Jordan custom to riff off the Air Jordan IX ‘Doernbecher’? Apparently the custom heavy weight wasted no time once photos of that special sneaker for 2012 were released, grabbing an Air Jordan VI from his reserves and slapping on a similar gold feathered print. Other than that the sneaker sticks to the muted black and white scheme found on the rest of the sneaker, the model already providing the necessary icy soles.
