The latest example of an adidas Originals silhouette being ported over for skateboarding purposes is the first where both are arriving at retail around the same time. The adidas adicourt tennis shoe makes its first retro appearance on the Originals side this spring, and for skating, we see longtime Three Stripes rider Mark Gonzales apply an aqua canvas upper to a slightly altered design. This colorway, the canvas build and extremely affordable price point make for a very attractive summer shoe, and you’ll find them available now at adidas Skateboarding retailers.

Mark Gonzales hasn’t made too much Sneaker News since we saw a preview of adidas Skateboarding’s fall/winter Gonz Collection back in January. But you can bet The Gonz is staying busy as he has for the past fifteen years he rode for adidas. The ’15 Years of Gonz and adidas’ exhibit at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery in Los Angeles celebrates a decade and a half of Three Stripes x Gonz, including the rider’s artwork and action shots from notable photographers. An upcoming capsule from which we’ve not heard a single word since last July’s preview, adidas Skateboarding’s Gonz Collection shows off a brand new style. The name is not immediately available, but what’s clear about this latest Mark Gonzales x adidas silo is that it manages to combine two skateboarding mainstays in the classic slip-on a la Jeff Spicoli’s Vans, along with the one-piece construction that’s become so popular in recent years. Fittingly, this new lowtop looks as good with Three Stripes as it does a hundred, the latter of which features a full on Gonz signature at the lower ankle instead of the more traditional gold leaf box branding. Veteran Three Stripes rider Mark Gonzales is something like the adidas Skateboarding equivalent of Nike SB’s Paul Rodriguez, and now Gonz gets his own line of apparel as well as a new lowtop sneaker design. The Mark Gonzales x adidas Skate line gives us a variety of whimsical apparel options as well as a new vulc-soled shoe whose design puts it somewhere between the adiEase and Campus Vulc that we’ve both seen Gonz’d-up. After nearly four decades out of the spotlight, the adidas Originals Immotile returned as part of a collaboration with Japanese label real mad HECTIC. The Immotile was initially conceived as a performance cycling shoe, and like many of Three Stripes’ classic lowtop designs, has been reprised as a skateboarding model. Check out the new adidas Skate Immotile as crafted for Mark Gonzales, a black suede design with white stripes and sole and just a hint of red peeking through. Mark Gonzales is one of skateboarding’s true OGs, a guy who’s been kicking and pushing for over a quarter century and remains one of the sport’s luminary figures. His latest release from adidas Skateboarding has a look so classic it could have just as easily been on his feet during that fateful day at Embarcadero when he was tricked into ollieing a gap so big it now bears his name. The same cannot be said of the adidas adi Ease‘s model name, though its Satellite Blue silhouette bears the legend’s name in gold on its lateral sides. adidas Skateboarding is All In and while this new collection of footwear doesn’t represent their entire team of riders, it’s certainly a formidable set that includes many of Three Stripes Skate’s heavy hitters. We’ll start with longtime adidas repper Mark Gonzales, whose new adiEase colorway misses the vintage Phillies look by the extent to which its scarlet accents are separated from burgundy. The next two come in with super-simple white-on-black suede designs, a new Dennis Busenitz pro model and the Campus Vulc Lo. Last but not least is an equally subdued Columbia blue adidas Skate, alternately known as the ‘Gonz’ for its affiliation with Mark, yet these omit his name in the typical gold foil in favor of clean as can be white Stripes and sole.
