No doubt one of the tougher events to find your way into at this weekend’s 2013 NBA All-Star weekend was Michael Jordan’s 50th birthday party. The star studded event serendipitously lined up with the arrival of the Air Jordan XX8, an alignment reflected by the pairs popping up on the red carpet. You’d think that right about now would be the time that every rapper and their mother breaks out their pair of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ to show off just how easy of a pick up that was for the rich and famous this holiday season. Sticking to a pair that’s every bit as classic from a couple of months back is Nas, shown here out in Vegas with the Air Jordan IV ‘Bred’ on feet. Nas and Wale: two rappers who are both regulars at the Heineken Red Star Access events and in our celebrity feet category. The latest sees them converging again, the free concert series touching down in Philadelphia and bringing the both of these esteemed rappers on stage. Both had Jordan Brand selections for the day, Nas beating Wale at his own game with an early pair of the Jordan Spiz’ike and Wale bringing out the Air Jordan II ‘Doernbecher’. You’d think that if any Queensbridge rapper was to suit up in a ‘Safari’ sneaker then Jungle would be the go-to guy based off name alone, but as it turns out not too many people are showing up for Bravehearts shows these days so we may never get a glimpse of that. Nas is instead the dude to do them justice, popping up at the Heineken Red Star Access Chicago event with the Nike Air Trainer 1 ‘Safari’ on feet. Nas is no stranger to grabbing the gold, actually surpassing that 500,000 units landmark pretty consistently in his discography with a whopping eight out of ten solo albums hitting platinum (Who said anything about a one hot album every ten year average?). Nonetheless he seemed pretty stoked on Team USA’s ability to do so, showing up for a wild night out in London courtesy of Swizz Beatz to cap off the gold medal performance on the last night of Olympic festivities. Nasty even got on the mic for a bit apparently, pictured here with appropriately patriotic sneaks the Nike Air Force 180 ‘Dream Team’ from the recent Olympic styled pack, flanked by gold bottles of course. Swizz Beatz continues to make all the right moves for Reebok as he hit the ESPY red carpet yesterday wearing the Reebok Pump Twilight Zone “Snakes”, but he wasn’t alone as the once-proclaimed ‘Nike-head’ Nas wore a similar Black colorway. Both Swizz Beatz and Nas (natives of New York City), performed live at the ESPY Award Show, but rocked their ‘Boks up until their wardrobe change. We’ve got a good look at both colorways on the feet of these notable hip-hop sneakerheads, so take a look and let us know which of the two colorways is better, and we’ll keep you updated on a potential release date for these sick new T-Zones! Way back in the Illmatic era Nas famously described himself as a “Nike head” (no chains here, sorry Feds), but since then it looks like he’s let his taste diversify at least a little bit. The Air Jordan IV ‘White/Cement’ released in mid-February, causing Nike’s online store to retreat and re-launch three hours after the midnight release date. If that doesn’t show how highly-coveted the White/Cement IVs were, just check out three of hip-hop’s biggest names wearing the sneaker in question – all in the same week. Jay-Z was spotted wearing ‘em during a night out with wife Beyonce, Kanye rocked ‘em at a club, and Nas took them to the stage at SXSW.
