Nash Money works his magic again with a classic French running silhouette, as the Ellesse 117 is transformed from New Balance-leaning golden era suede and mesh runner to a moc-toed boat shoe hybrid that shows how modular these design elements really are. Nash x Sole DXB Bedouin – Visvim/New Balance Hybrid

Dubai in and of itself is sort of a hybrid city, caught between embracing a massive wave of development and maintaining its cultural heritage as a capital of the Arab world. Touching on that status is this crazy custom design from Nash dubbed the ‘Bedouin’ and produced for the recent Sole DXB sneaker show, which blends the luxurious upper of the Visvim FBT with the retro tech of the New Balance 1500 sole kit on bottom. The result is, as to be expected, pretty unlike any sort of customization we’ve ever seen before, with the cross-branding choices successfully pairing up two totally different footwear fields. They might not get the attention that European brands like Lacoste or even Le Coq Sportif command here in the US, but that doesn’t mean Italian sportswear label ellesse isn’t working to earn their own niche in the sneakerhead scene. This new Nash Money x ellesse N117 sees a classic running silhouette redone to reflect today’s trend toward boat shoes and other moccasin-toed designs, and while the tonal gold/brown edition looks the part of a docksider, another in mint green with purple accents really stands out from the pack.
