Word of the ‘Steel Blue’ 1300CL hitting once again not enough New Balance for you this April? You’re in luck, then, with news now that many more classic styles are starting to touch down at select retailers. For a sneaker to remain in circulation beyond its initial release requires a certain resonance with the sneakerhead set. To have a model make it through parts of four decades? That takes an impeccably timeless design like the one pictured above, 1985′s New Balance 1300CL in the original ‘Steel Blue’ colorup. This is an OG palette that makes the rounds every few years and some were lucky enough to get pairs when they released in Asia last summer. New York’s Kith has a fresh batch in stock for the time being, but act quickly if you want to get one from this full size run; additional images after the jump below detail exactly why they’ll be gone just as fast as they arrived.

New Balance has been increasingly generous with their classic lineup in recent months and it looks like we can expect that trend to continue courtesy of a few new ‘Made in USA’ drops slated for later this year. The New Balance 996 will return after having been resurrected by UNDFTD and Stussy last fall, and will be joined at retailers in late 2012 by 998s and 1300s also crafted at NB’s New England factories. Each of these pairs features a traditional mix of suede and mesh in muted tones for the kind of timeless appeal that draws sneakerheads toward their heritage catalog. Check them out up-close after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for word on US availability. via HS

There’s something to be said for copping a pair of kicks made right here in the USA. New Balance has long been supportive of domestically produced runners, with the 2011 collection ending up particularly strong. Kicking off 2012 in familiar fashion is the New Balance M1300NR, one of their higher end models done up here in a deep navy suede. Throw in some red accents for a bit of pop and a clean white Encap midsole and you’ve got quite a nice looking retro runner. After you pick up a pair from Packer, ponder this: is the Made in USA line currently holding the NB crown or does Flimby do it better? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

There’s no doubt that New Balance picked up a good number of supporters this last year from their heralded collabo releases, but if you wanna do the knowledge then you must be hip to their in-house classics like the New Balance 1300 CL ‘Steel Blue’. An OG colorway that only pops up every couple of years, these saw a small US release in late 2010 followed by another limited drop in Asia in the spring of 2011. Fortunately for NB devotees, some pairs are apparently set to pop up once again at Ronnie Fieg’s Kith locations in NYC as well as their online shop. Get the full look at this beauty after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Sneaker News showed you a glimpse at an upcoming New Balance M1300 earlier this month crafted in tonal navy suede and mesh. They bear a new ‘NB Classic’ tag just like a couple other of the upcoming releases on the same tongue that also denotes their point of origin, and that’s something shared in common by a few other soon-to-shelves retro runners. Also along for the ride in simple yet satisfying colorways is a brown NB998 and two pairs of the 991 model perhaps now most famous for being the favorite sneaker of late Apple head Steve Jobs. Each one is impeccable in its simplicity and they’ll all be available within the first quarter of 2012. via FNG
