Whenever the New Balance 1500 crosses your mind, don’t you usually picture them in suede? This premium 1988 runner has been issued in innumerable suede and mesh colorups over the years, but even if that’s the ‘standard’ form, you can’t really argue with a small change that produces results like these. This NB1500UC employs a leather upper in black instead of the navy suedes we’re more accustomed to seeing on these N-branded classics, and paired with grey and a white midsole, these capture the look that’s been oh so popular in early 2012. They’re expected in stores around the same time as the purple and green suede editions, and you can pre-order now in advance of that June 2nd drop date from Berlin’s Overkill.

The most recent Sneaker News headline referencing New Balance’s 1988 flagship runner was one of Nash (Money)’s crazy hybrid designs Frankensteining a Visvim FBT upper onto the sole of a spring 2012 NB 1500 release. That collection’s successors are almost ready for introduction, their classically styled suede and mesh uppers almost too perfect to even consider altering. Purple and green New Balance 1500s that first popped up at Bread & Butter Berlin this January are still on target as a FA12 drop, and you can see more of both of these July 2nd releases after the jump, before pre-ordering yours from Overkill.

Dubai in and of itself is sort of a hybrid city, caught between embracing a massive wave of development and maintaining its cultural heritage as a capital of the Arab world. Touching on that status is this crazy custom design from Nash dubbed the ‘Bedouin’ and produced for the recent Sole DXB sneaker show, which blends the luxurious upper of the Visvim FBT with the retro tech of the New Balance 1500 sole kit on bottom. The result is, as to be expected, pretty unlike any sort of customization we’ve ever seen before, with the cross-branding choices successfully pairing up two totally different footwear fields. New Balance doesn’t typically indulge in the kind of hype we’ve come to expect from other major brands, so seeing these for a third time in 2012 feels like a huge tease. At least we now know these New Balance 1500s are slated to arrive at select retailers in August, which makes it look like there might not be any new colors dropping for Q2. These should be worth the wait, though, their rich grey and navy suede uppers leaning just enough so as to thoroughly embrace your choice of orange or vibrant blue accents. Both of these can be seen up close after the jump, so let us know what you think and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release. via HB

Japanese streetwear label nonnative bookended 2011 with a couple of tonal brown suede New Balance classic runners, the first of which was a ‘Coyote’ CM1500. The golden nappiness on that pair may have been a bit over the top for some, so here’s another Japanese-born collabo that splits the difference between those wild animals and the time tested OG appearance. The United Arrows x New Balance 1500 goes with the smooth, velvety suede NB loyalists have come to know and love, their sandy brown upper considerably softer than the aforementioned pair. These are also more eye-catching than the ‘Coyote’ edition when you utilize the orange lace set, a bright accent that, similar to the recent Beauty & Youth CM1700, implies you could swap in a huge variety of different colors if so inclined. Click through to see the ones with which they’ll be shipped late next month and stick with Sneaker News for updates.

New Balance’s signature look is some combination of grey, white and navy done in suede and mesh, and while this model’s OG reflects that motif perfectly, the New Balance 1500 seems to have a higher proportion of high-impact colorways than most of NB’s classic runners. The Fifteen Hundred can easily handle being dipped in red, orange or purple suede, but these pairs put 1988′s flagship model to the test to see if they also excel with nubuck builds. These conform to that longstanding reliance upon navy and grey, but these pairs’ particularly dark execution with relatively bright and eye-catching accents sets them apart from the lot. Expect these at select retailers in the second half of 2012 and stick with Sneaker News for word on US availability. via HS

Wider availability of the 1500 is just one of several pieces of evidence pointing to New Balance doing it right in 2012, and today we have a preview of five pairs expected for teh second half of next year. Joining the two New Balance 1500 ’Made in England’ colorways we previewed about two weeks ago are three more from the Flimby Factory, including one that offers a reprisal of last summer’s ‘Gun Metal Grey’ leather getup, but with more tonal variation this time around. Add in two suede makeups in the same unbeatable colorblocking pattern as last fall’s crimson and plum pair, this time around in rich navy and forest green colors perfect for cold weather months. Check out all five after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for news on US release dates. via EUKicks

One of the big draws to living in southern California is that, even during January, the weather’s so nice that locals talk about other parts of the US as actually ‘having seasons’. You can count on the LA area to stay nice and warm, and Long Beach is just now cooling off from the conclusion of the recently wrapped Agenda tradeshow that brought news of a huge variety of sneakers slated for later this year. Among the standouts in attendance were two new pairs of New Balance 1500s that carry the premium distinction of having been crafted at the Flimby Factory along with that familiar ‘Made in England’ tongue embroidery. Both pairs go with nubuck on the majority of their uppers, a chioce that gives navy blue and grey makeups an extra frosty appearance. Maybe that’s just the winter talking, but we’ll be glad to welcome these as a late summer/fall release, and you can see more images by clicking on the jump below. via F5
